Built on the success of 2025, Outback Wilderness Response is back in 2026 with our most practical and immersive Wilderness Medicine courses yet.

This is not classroom medicine.

Join OWR in the West MacDonnell Ranges for a hands-on wilderness medicine experience designed for doctors, paramedics, nurses, rescue workers, park rangers, tour guides, outdoor professionals and anyone who may need to manage real emergencies when help is a long way off.

Across the course, you will work through realistic remote-area scenarios involving:

Remote trauma and medical emergencies
Canyon rescue and difficult patient access
Search and rescue principles
Navigation and survival skills
Prolonged field care
Helicopter and evacuation considerations
Team leadership and decision-making under pressure
Working safely in heat, terrain, waterholes and isolated environments

Outback Wilderness Response is inviting doctors to step out of the clinical environment and into the West MacDonnell Ranges for a 3-day Wilderness Medicine Course built around real terrain, real pressure and real remote decision-making.

This course is designed for doctors who want to challenge themselves beyond the hospital, clinic or retrieval bay and apply clinical reasoning where resources are limited, evacuation is complex and the environment becomes part of the emergency.

Across the course, you’ll work through practical wilderness scenarios involving:
