Happy 30th birthday to bigissueaustralia

An incredible initiative and achievement. Many of you will know our local seller, Eddie, who can be found each week at the Milton markets.

If you’ve not introduced yourself to him before perhaps this is the sign you need to say hi!

I think it’s important that you know, Deputy Premier Jarrod Belijie has directed developers to remove the affordable housing components of their new builds.

I’m not sure what the motivation is on this, it can only be succumbing to industry pressure.

The role of Government is to stand strong against pressure and do the right thing.

Anyone with a loved one trying to get into the housing market right now would appreciate the importance of mandating affordable housing targets.

Political parties are more than groupings of like minded people, they’re movements.

It was great to welcome new members of the Labor movement last week in Parliament.

If you’re curious about the Labor party policies and movement, and how you could be involved I’m always happy to meet up.

DM me.

In what feels like an episode from “Utopia” Brisbane City Council has refused to install a bicycle box to improve safety on Ashgrove Avenue, because… the road is not safe for cyclists.

Despite Ashgrove Avenue being a designated ‘bike friendly road’.

Local Jeff explains why infrastructure like Bicycle Boxes are important for cyclists and drivers.

Local lad Ryan Edgar is achieving some extraordinary goals!

Ryan won Gold at the Asian U18 Beach Volleyball Championships, and as a result, he has been selected to represent Australia at the U18 Beach Volleyball World Championships in the Netherlands.

This is an incredible opportunity for a young athlete from our community to compete on the world stage.

However, the costs associated with international travel, accommodation, and competition fees are significant.

Personally, I’d love to see Ryan on the world stage in Brisbane at the 2032 Olympics, but that takes support from our community.

Every little dollar counts, you can donate here.

If you are aged 14-25 and would like to have a greater voice in our community, understand how politics works or interested in policy then why don’t you nominate for our Cooper Youth Advisory Group this year?

It’s a great opportunity to take on a leadership role locally, without over-burdening your studies.
