A packed house for our state election campaign strategy day in Brunswick - with VS candidates and branch coordinators coming together from across Victoria. We're aiming to run candidates in all 88 lower house districts + 8 upper house regions. A big challenge, but we're up for it!

Labor dogged Victorian teachers with a significant real wage cut in their last agreement. Teachers and support staff are stretched to breaking point (hence the ongoing exodus from the profession). They deserve a better deal!

The Victorian state election will be held on Saturday 28th November. Victorian Socialists are running candidates across the state. Today, we're proud to introduce our candidate for Sunbury, Adam Bremner.

Adam is teacher and trade unionist who lives and works in the Sunbury community. He writes: "I know that we deserve better than the neglect we receive. I have seen first hand how the high quality educators in our public schools are let down by low funding and degrading conditions.

"The current political system prioritises the ultra wealthy, ignoring the future of our children, and severely neglecting our public education system.

"The neglect in the outer west suburbs continues to develop. Neglected community houses; out of date schools and sports centres; distant hospitals; and roads that are falling apart. We see the effects of the cost of living crisis and we need real change. The school, the hospitals and the whole system needs an urgent overhaul.

"Politics has not worked for us. We need something that we can all be proud of. We need a system for us, and to put people before profit."

Real wages are at 2010 levels, rich listers like Gina Rinehart are seeing wealth increases of $50,000 a minute, major corporations are booking record profits - but we're supposed to believe the problem with the IR laws is that workers have too many rights!

We will never get the kind of saturation media coverage that Hanson and others on the right-wing of politics get (because the media bosses want to boost them). We rely on the backing of our members and supporters to get our message out!
