Happy Father’s Day!
Today is a simple reminder to thank all the dads and father figures who quietly show up every day for their families, their children, and their communities. Your love, hard work, sacrifices, and guidance don’t go unnoticed.
The time you give, the lessons you share, and the example you set shape not just your children’s future, but the strength of our whole community in ways that truly matter.
To all the fathers in Ajax and across our region, thank you for everything you do. Wishing you a day filled with love, appreciation, and meaningful time with your loved ones.

Very concerning incident in our community. My thoughts are with the elderly victim and her family. Please stay vigilant, check in on seniors and loved ones, and report any suspicious activity to police. Community safety must always remain a priority for Ajax.
Police are looking for two suspects after an elderly female was robbed in Ajax.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to a robbery call outside of a residence in the area of Old Harwood Avenue and Bray Drive. A 76-year-old female was outside of her home gardening when a vehicle being driven by a male suspect stopped in front of her residence. A female suspect exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim, stealing several gold bracelets and a necklace she was wearing, before throwing fake jewellery at the victim and fleeing the area.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905.

Important public safety reminder from Durham Regional Police. Please stay alert, look out for one another, and share this with family and friends — especially seniors in our community. Together, we can help keep Ajax safe.
Durham Police would like to warn the public about an ongoing jewelry distraction theft scam.
Suspects will approach victims in a public place and pretend to ask for directions, or make conversation. They may ask victims to pray with them and then offer a gift. The suspects will get close and put fake jewelry around the victim’s neck, or slide a ring onto the victim’s fingers when shaking their hand. During this embrace, the suspects will remove real jewelry that the victim is already wearing. The suspects will then flee the area before the victim realizes their property has been stolen.
Anyone who encounters individuals acting suspiciously in this manner are encouraged to contact police immediately and record any important details such as vehicle licence plates, clothing descriptions, and directions of travel.
