Abu Simbel temples (أبو سمبل) are two massive rock temples in Nubia, southern Egypt on the western bank of Lake Nasser about 290 km southwest of Aswan. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Nubian Monuments".
Built to honour the goddess Isis, this was the last temple built in the classical Egyptian style. and it was one of the last outposts where the goddess was worshipped. The cult of Isis continued here until at least AD 550.
