A flirty chat can turn into blackmail faster than most people realise 💬➡️💰
Sextortion is a form of online blackmail where someone threatens to share intimate images or videos unless you give into their demands. It often starts with what feels like a normal interaction then quickly escalates through pressure, threats and manipulation.
More and more young Australians are experiencing it, especially young men.
That’s why eSafety is committed to helping young people recognise the warning signs earlier, reduce shame and seek help sooner.
If it happens, remember the message: Report ⚠️ Block 📵 Get Support 🤝
Don’t send more, don’t pay and don’t go through it alone.

Apple has announced a set of new safety features to help keep children safe.
These new tools are designed to allow parents to manage:
👀 the content their children can see
💬 who their children can communicate with
⏱ when their children have access to apps
🚸 settings to support age-appropriate experiences.
We encourage parents to use these new features when they become available. Features such as Age Range for Apps can be enabled right now in family settings, with other features becoming available later this year.
Apple's announcement follows eSafety's consistent exposure of safety shortcomings through its transparency reports and marks a step in the right direction by big tech.
While we're pleased to see this positive step, we'll continue to push for further improvements to protect children from sexual abuse online and harmful material and features. It's important to understand these changes aren't a silver bullet. For example, children aged 13+ will still be able to click through warnings and view images without parental consent. It's essential that parents continue to talk to children about their experiences on their devices.
