CASE STUDY - Tratos has been supplying cables for defence and military applications for decades, meeting the demanding standards required for naval vessels. A strong example of this capability was our work on the Royal Navy HMS Dauntless Type 45 Frigate Power Improvement Project (PIP), where we designed, manufactured and supplied Defence Standard 02-526 cables for SeaKing Group at Cammell Laird Shipyard.
These rubber-insulated, limited-fire-hazard cables are specifically engineered for the confined spaces of military vessels, producing minimal noxious fumes, smoke, and corrosive products. It's the kind of work that reflects what we bring to the defence sector: certified capability, specialist engineering and reliable delivery.

All electric cables used in construction works are subject to fire performance requirements and must comply with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and meet European Standard EN 50575. Cables without a European Classification cannot legally be sold in the EU market.
All Tratos cables subject to CPR have been tested and meet the requirements of Class C or above. Every product carries CE marking with a Declaration of Performance (DoP), giving specifiers, contractors and end users confidence that our cables meet or exceed the required fire performance standards.

Tratos Cavi Germany GmbH (formerly AFL Germany) is a facility with roots dating back to 1898. Based in Mönchengladbach, the team specialises in OPGW, OPPC and MASS cables that combine grounding or power transmission with fibre optic data transfer in overhead power lines.
This dual functionality is critical for utilities modernising their grids. A single cable protects against lightning strikes while delivering high-speed communication, reducing the need for separate infrastructure. The German facility also produces special optical cables and steel tubes with fibres for harsh industrial, submarine and offshore environments.
Integrating this expertise has significantly expanded our capacity to meet the growing demand for fibre-optic solutions across energy and telecommunications infrastructure worldwide.

CASE STUDY - Tratosflex ESDB® reeling cables have been operating inside the port of DP World London Gateway for many years, the UK's first major deep-sea on proven performance in similar installations at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai and Busan Port in Korea.
The ESDB range features a modified internal design that eliminates the twisting problem common in high-speed reeling applications. Operating from -20 °C to +60°C, it's built to meet the demands of modern container handling.

Our compliance with ISO 50001 provides a systematic framework for the continual improvement of energy performance across our operations.
Developed in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ISO 50001 aligns directly with our commitment to sustainable manufacturing. For us, the ambition goes beyond net zero. We're working towards negative CO2 production.
Standards like these are how we put our values into practice every day.
