It’s great to see rangelands getting the attention they deserve this World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. Rangelands cover more than half of the Earth’s land surface and support the lives of two billion people – but are at risk from land degradation and climate change.

This doesn’t just threaten those who depend on these vital habitats for their livelihoods. The destruction of rangelands is impacting global food and water security, biodiversity and climate resilience.

Scriptoria’s Strategic Communications Team is proud to be playing its part in the fight to protect rangelands. Our decades-long work with ICARDA has allowed us to shout about the organisation’s pioneering work to protect the world’s dry areas, including many rangelands.

We recently created the brand and webpage of the ICARDA-led Consortium for Red Palm Weevil Control, an international effort to control the spread of the highly destructive plant pest. In addition to designing the Consortium’s logo and visual identity, we created templates, banners and digital materials to promote this urgent work.

When the logic of development funding is broken, there is space to consider how it should have worked all along. Here, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo of Accra Reset and María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo of OECD Development reflect on the realisations of the Future of Development Co-operation conference in Paris.

Scriptoria’s Strategic Communications Team recently polished a series of 17 new background papers to set the stage for this strategic gathering of political leaders, senior policymakers, thought leaders, private sector players and civil society actors. Next, we’re looking forward to helping OECD integrate and share all the insights from the conference.

Today is World Oceans Day, and this year’s theme is ‘Reimagine: Beyond the world we know, a new relationship with our ocean’. 🌊

Scriptoria’s Strategic Communications team are proud to have scripted, edited and produced the first Aquatic Food SoundWaves podcasts for the Asia–Africa BlueTech Superhighway (AABS) project led by WorldFish 🎙️

Each episode shares how AABS is transforming coastal livelihoods – especially for women and youth – while restoring marine and coastal ecosystems through sustainable, resilient aquatic food systems.

One episode in particular embodies the ‘Reimagine’ theme. In Bangladesh, small-scale fishing communities face growing pressures from climate change, seasonal fishing bans and limited social protection. This episode explores opportunities to improve social protection through more inclusive policies and alignment with community needs, reimaging an ocean future through resilient livelihoods, sustainable fisheries and stronger community support systems. 🎣🌿

Pioneering ‘education city’ showcases future of urban development in the Philippines - UK Green Cities and Infrastructure 05/06/2026

On World Environment Day, we are reminded that climate action is not just a goal – it is a responsibility shared across sectors and borders.

In this video, produced by Scriptoria’s Strategic Communications Team, a UK–Philippines partnership applies transit-oriented development to build climate-resilient city districts. The project, part of the Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme, shows how integrated planning and sustainable urban development can drive climate solutions in rapidly growing cities. Examples include:

🌿 Reducing carbon footprints with 4+ hectares of green, cooling open space
🏙️ Building climate resilience with walkable, low-carbon districts
🚆 Integrating public transit with vibrant, diverse communities to cut congestion and emissions

From video concept to delivery, our team led on script development, production and promotion to bring this story to life. Do you have a story you’d like to tell? Get in touch to discuss campaign ideas and how we can help deliver your communication goals.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Scriptoria, we’re reflecting on some highlights from our Strategic Communications Team’s work, looking back over the past 10 years since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals.

🔸Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation🔸

Project: Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility (CRIDF)

Services provided: Communications strategy | Writing & editing | Graphic design | Digital content | Video & animation | Social media | Website development & content

CRIDF, originally funded by UK FCDO, worked to provide long-term solutions to water issues affecting communities in Southern Africa. Scriptoria developed, refined and led the delivery of CRIDF’s communications strategy for six years, from 2017 to 2023.

Our support included working closely with the CRIDF team to identify and generate ideas for content. One of the products we created was an animation, “Upping the flow: CRIDF’s work in Tanzania’s Makonde Plateau”. This video explains how CRIDF worked with partners to increase the supply of clean water and sanitation in a region where water was not easily accessible.

We love the creative process of developing animations like this, as they provide a simple and engaging way to share key messages with target audiences. To watch the animation, head to the link in the comment.

If you would like our experienced Strategic Communications Team to support you with a video or animation, get in touch.
