❌ Don’t give in to peer pressure. Think before you jump ❌
During the recent warm weather HM Coastguard has heard about people tombstoning all around the coast. But jumping from piers, rocks and heights into water can be very dangerous.
So please enjoy our beautiful coastline responsibly by not jumping into the unknown 🌊
• Consider the risks to yourself and others. Young people could be watching and may attempt to mimic the activity
• The depth of water can dramatically change with the tide and you don’t know what hazards may be lurking under the surface
• The shock of cold water may make it difficult to swim to safety and strong currents can quickly sweep people away
• Remember: The UK’s seas never get that warm, even in the height of summer
• HM Coastguard advice is that if you do want to jump from height into the sea we would advise people join a coasteering group with a professional and reputable adventure centre. But the risks are always there
As ever, our message is: keep safe, but if you see anybody in trouble or if you get into difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard 📱

What a beautiful few days of weather we have been having!!! We know that everyone has probably been enjoying a bit of the sun recently but please do take care of yourself and your furry friends!!
If you are going to the beach, out on a walk, or just generally going out in the sun please make sure that you are:
• drinking lots of water
• wearing sun cream
• regularly finding shade to cool down in
• wear light coloured, loose clothing (take those jumpers and coats off!!!)
• avoid extreme exercise - if you are going to be doing exercise take regular breaks, drink plenty of water and avoid peak times (go in the evening/morning)
If you have a dog/furry friend of any kind, remember that they do suffer in the heat just as much as humans! To avoid heat stroke in your animals please remember to:
• never leave your dog in the car alone! Not even a cracked window will give enough air to cool your pup down.
• ensure there is a constant supply of cool water
• do not walk your dogs during the day!!! Take them out early morning or in the evening where temperatures are cooler!
Remember to stay safe this summer!!!

We are very grateful for a donation of surplus rescue equipment from to our own operatives.
The kit, including search cameras, recip saws and waterproof tunics and trousers will be a definite asset to Serve On’s International Response Team and UK Ops .
Andy and Roger from our Dog Team went with Roger’s dog Ziggy to collect the generous gift from Chris Jones, manager at the Wales USAR training centre near Swansea.
