The National DRIP Coordinator Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has acted quickly to help restore movement on the Wa–Wechau road after part of it was cut off due to a sudden collapse of a culvert between Varempere and Vieri.
During his routine monitoring tour in the Upper West Region, he and his team came across the serious damage. He immediately contacted Hon. Peter Toobu, MP for Wa West, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Wulo, to take urgent action.
He then directed the Regional DRIP Coordinator to support the District Assembly with equipment so work could begin right away.
Thanks to this swift response, the Hon. DCE and the District Coordinator, Mr. Saaka Mauzu, led an emergency operation to fill the deep trench and reopen the road to traffic within 24 hours.
This quick intervention has brought relief to commuters and residents who depend on this road.
