CSIR-IICB organized a workshop on “Safety and Behaviour at Workspace, Laboratory and Institutional Campus” during May 7–8, 2026 at its Jadavpur Campus. Shri Shankar Mane, Sr. Superintending Engineer, (Electrical), CSIR-NCL, delivered a talk and practical demonstration on fire and electrical safety.

Honorable Jitendra Singh ji visited IACS on its 150th Anniversary and conducted a short meeting with directors of the CSIR laboratories to discuss scientific collaboration between DST, CSIR, Startups and Industries of West Bengal. It was followed by a meeting with Honarable Chief minister of West Bengal Mr Suvendu Adhikari to find out collaboration opportunities in the area of education, technology and healthcare between Central institutes of DST, CSIR with West Bengal Govt. Honourable Minister of Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh ji proposed a road map involving meetings between Secretaries of different Science departments in Centre and West Bengal Science Secretary involving directors to decide different areas where we can collaborate and help the West Bengal citizens. Few of the areas discussed were health care diagnostics & therapeutics, arsenic poisoning, cancer therapeutics, cell and gene therapy. Dr Jitendra Singh ji suggested that Jigyasa, Skill Development program of CSIR may be utilized to train School children and College students on state of art instruments at CSIR institutes to become employable. CSIR-IICB successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwara 2026 with a series of engaging and impactful activities promoting cleanliness, awareness, and social responsibility during 1st May - 15th May, 2026. The celebration commenced with a Swachhata Oath-taking ceremony. Cleanliness drive was organized across the campus. Extending the outreach beyond the institute, an awareness quiz programme on Swachhata was conducted at Rammohan Mission High School to inspire young minds. A drawing competition for staff wards showcased vibrant ideas and messages on cleanliness and environmental conservation.

Students from Presidency University from the Department of Virology and Immunology visited the campus to attend this 1.5 days workshop from 15-16th May 2026. They learned about the discovery of EVs and their significance in the modern day research. The programme included Didactic session followed by hands-on training to isolate and characterize these EVs using various molecular biology analytical techniques.

CSIR-IICB successfully organized a thought-provoking Colloquium on “Pre-Disaster Preparedness” on April 27, 2026, at CSIR-IICB, Jadavpur campus.
The session featured insightful deliberations by the distinguished speakers Shri Aranyak Mishra, Former Capacity Building Officer, Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Gopinath Bhandari, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Jadavpur University and Shri Sabyasachi Karmakar, Security Officer, CSIR-IICB. They shared their insights on Disaster Risk Analysis & Multi-Hazard Resilience, Disaster Preparedness for Campus Resilience and Fire Safety Measures.

CSIR-IICB celebrated its 70th Foundation Day on April 02, 2026. Prof. K. N. Ganesh, ANRF National Science Chair at JNCASR, Bengaluru, and Founder Director of IISER Pune and IISER Tirupati, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof. Upinder S. Bhalla, Distinguished Professor at NCBS-TIFR, Bengaluru, delivered the distinguished ‘Dr. J. C. Ray Memorial Foundation Day Lecture’, engaging the audience with his insightful talk. The programme was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Arvind Sinha, Executive Director of AIIMS Kalyani. Prof. U. S. N. Murty, Director of NIPER Guwahati and Director (Additional Charge), NIPER Kolkata, along with Prof. Tapas Kumar Kundu of JNCASR, Bengaluru and Chairman, CSIR-IICB Research Council, was also present on this occasion. The transfer of a joint CSIR-IICB and NIPER Kolkata technology to G2P Private Ltd., Hyderabad, made the day even more memorable. The technology development was led by Dr. P. Jaisankar, Scientist-G, CSIR-IICB and Dr. Sreya Gupta, Scientist, NIPER Kolkata.
