I was honoured to preside over the opening of a week-long National Youth Service Council training programme in Naivasha. The progress and milestones achieved by NYS are a testament to effective leadership, teamwork, and strong institutional commitment.

As Council members, we must remain flexible and adaptive in order to effectively discharge our governance and oversight mandate in a dynamic operating environment. This programme, facilitated by the Kenya School of Government under the leadership of Mr. Simon Angote, is a timely initiative aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, governance frameworks, and institutional effectiveness.

I am encouraged by the shared commitment to advancing the Service’s strategic vision, as reiterated by the Commandant General, National Youth Service, Mr. James K. Tembur, MBS. Together, we remain focused on delivering responsive, results-driven leadership in service to our nation.

NorthHorr MP Hon. Eminent Ambassador Hajji Wario Adhe, on Thursday convened a meeting bringing together the Safaricom Sustainability team and National Youth Service (NYS) leadership to explore a partnership aimed at establishing an NYS training camp in Turbi, Marsabit County.

The proposed facility, which would be the only NYS training camp located north of the Equator in Kenya, is expected to expand access to skills development and employment opportunities for youth in the region.

On Wednesday 19th November 2025, I had the pleasure of leading the National Youth Service (NYS) team in a consultative meeting with the National Irrigation Authority (NIA). This constructive session advanced our partnership, through which NYS will receive 3,000 acres of land to strengthen youth-led agricultural initiatives and enhance food production using irrigation infrastructure.

We look forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the end of November 2025, formalizing this collaboration and reinforcing our commitment to empowering youth, promoting sustainable agriculture, and contributing to Kenya’s food security.

Together, we are transforming opportunities into tangible impact for our nation.

I had the privilege of attending the High-Level Meeting on ASALs Development Focused on Livestock Development convened by the Council of Governors in partnership with the State Department for Livestock Development.
Bringing together leaders from the 23 ASAL counties, the discussions centered on unlocking the potential of the livestock sector, addressing persistent challenges, and co-creating a blueprint for sustainable growth, investment, and resilience.
Livestock remains a backbone of livelihoods in ASALs, and it is through collective reforms, innovation, and strategic partnerships that we can revitalize the livestock economy and secure a better future for our communities.
