🚨 RESCUE BREATH INTERVALS – KNOW THE DIFFERENCE 🫁🚨
Rescue breathing is used when a person has a pulse but is not breathing normally.

👨‍🦰 Adults
✔️ Give 1 rescue breath every 6 seconds
✔️ About 10 breaths per minute
✔️ Check pulse every 2 minutes

👶🧒 Infants & Children
✔️ Give 1 rescue breath every 2–3 seconds
✔️ About 20–30 breaths per minute
✔️ Check pulse every 2 minutes

💨 Each breath should:
✔️ Last about 1 second
✔️ Produce visible chest rise
✔️ Avoid excessive ventilation

🚨 If there is no pulse:
✔️ Start CPR immediately
✔️ Do not continue rescue breathing alone

🚫 DO NOT:
❌ Give breaths too fast
❌ Give excessive volume
❌ Interrupt care unnecessarily

🚨 INFANT CHEST COMPRESSIONS – SMALL HANDS, BIG IMPACT 👶❤️🚨

When an infant's heart stops beating effectively, high-quality chest compressions can help maintain blood flow to the brain and vital organs.

⚠️ For infants (below 1 year):
✔️ Place the baby on a firm, flat surface
✔️ Compress the center of the chest just below the ni**le line

👶 Single Rescuer Technique
✔️ Use 2 fingers in the center of the chest
✔️ Compress about 1/3 the depth of the chest (≈4 cm / 1.5 inches)

👶👶 Two-Rescuer Technique (Preferred)
✔️ Use the two-thumb encircling technique
✔️ Place both thumbs side-by-side on the center of the chest

✔️ Encircle the chest with your hands to support the back
⏱️ Compression Rate
✔️ 100–120 compressions per minute

✔️ Allow full chest recoil after each compression
✔️ Minimize interruptions
💨 Compression-to-Breath Ratio

✔️ Single rescuer: 30 compressions : 2 breaths
✔️ Two rescuers: 15 compressions : 2 breaths
🚫 DO NOT:

❌ Use adult force
❌ Compress too shallow or too deep
❌ Interrupt compressions unnecessarily

🚨 SHOCK – THE SILENT LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY 🚨
Shock occurs when the body is not getting enough oxygen-rich blood. Without prompt treatment, vital organs can begin to fail.

⚠️ Signs of shock:
😰 Pale, cold, clammy skin
💓 Rapid, weak pulse

😮‍💨 Fast breathing
😵 Dizziness or confusion
🥶 Weakness or restlessness

😴 Loss of consciousness in severe cases
⏱️ What to do immediately:
✔️ Ensure scene safety

✔️ Call for emergency help
✔️ Lay the person flat if safe to do so
✔️ Control any severe bleeding

✔️ Keep the person warm and comfortable
✔️ Monitor breathing and responsiveness
🚫 DO NOT:

❌ Give food or drinks to an unconscious person
❌ Allow unnecessary movement
❌ Ignore worsening symptoms

💡 Shock can develop after injury, severe bleeding, burns, allergic reactions, or serious illness. Early recognition saves lives.

🚨 HOW TO CHECK AN AIRWAY – A LIFE-SAVING SKILL 🫁🚨
Before checking breathing, you must first ensure the airway is open and clear.

⏱️ Step 1: Ensure Scene Safety
✔️ Make sure there are no dangers to you, the victim, or bystanders.
⏱️ Step 2: Check Responsiveness

✔️ Tap and shout: “Are you okay?”
✔️ If there is no response, call for help.
⏱️ Step 3: Open the Airway
👨‍🦰🧒 Adults & Children

✔️ Place one hand on the forehead
✔️ Place two fingers under the chin
✔️ Gently tilt the head back and lift the chin (Head Tilt-Chin Lift)

⚠️ If neck or spinal injury is suspected:
✔️ Use a Jaw Thrust Maneuver if trained
✔️ Minimize head movement
👶 Infants

✔️ Keep the head in a neutral "sniffing" position
✔️ Avoid excessive head tilt, which can block the airway

⏱️ Step 4: Look for Obstructions
✔️ Check the mouth for visible objects
✔️ Remove only if clearly seen and easily reachable

🚫 DO NOT:
❌ Perform blind finger sweeps
❌ Push objects deeper into the airway

⏱️ Step 5: Check Breathing (No More Than 10 Seconds)
✔️ Look for chest rise and fall
✔️ Listen for breathing sounds
✔️ Feel for air on your cheek

🚨 If breathing is absent or only gasping:
✔️ Activate emergency response
✔️ Start CPR immediately
✔️ Use an AED as soon as available

🚨 HEART ATTACK vs CARDIAC ARREST – KNOW THE DIFFERENCE* ❤️🚨
Many people use these terms interchangeably, but they are not the same.

❤️ HEART ATTACK 👉 A circulation problem caused by blocked blood flow to part of the heart.
⚠️ Signs:

💔 Chest pain or pressure
😮‍💨 Shortness of breath
🤢 Nausea

😓 Sweating
💪 Pain spreading to the arm, jaw, or back
✔️ The person is usually awake and breathing.

⚡ CARDIAC ARREST 👉 An electrical problem where the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively.
⚠️ Signs:

❌ Sudden collapse
❌ Unresponsive
❌ Not breathing normally or only gasping

❌ No pulse
🚨 This is a medical emergency requiring immediate CPR and AED use.

💡 Simple way to remember: ❤️ Heart Attack = Heart still beating, but blood flow is blocked. ⚡ Cardiac Arrest = Heart stops pumping effectively.
