This week, Lions Club of Kandy Penguin Excellence – District 306 D9 proudly joins the global movement to promote mental health awareness, understanding, and support.

Let’s remind ourselves that mental health matters just as much as physical health — and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Together, we can break the stigma and build a kinder, more supportive community.

The Lions Club of Kandy Penguin Excellence carried out a service project under the global cause of Vision. The club donated Braille books to the Kandy Public Library to improve educational resources for visually impaired readers. Additionally, gifts were distributed to visually impaired children at the Dodanwala Special School. The initiative promoted inclusivity, dignity, and joy for the children and families involved. Outcomes and Impact:
• Directly benefited visually impaired children with resources and gifts.
• Indirectly impacted many individuals including teachers, families, and library members.
• Strengthened educational opportunities by expanding the Braille collection in the library.
• Brought encouragement and happiness to children at the special school. Future Commitment / Sustainability:

The club has pledged to:

• Act as a strategic partner for both the library and the special school.
• Continue contributing to the needs of the visually impaired community each Lionistic year.
• Support both educational and welfare requirements of the Dodanwala Special School.
• Regularly update and expand the Braille collection at the Kandy Public Library.

Through this project, the Lions Club of Kandy Penguin Excellence made a lasting contribution to the Vision theme by empowering visually impaired children and supporting their education. The club remains committed to continuing this impactful initiative in future.

A heartfelt thank you to Lion Prabath Gamage of the Lions Club of Kandy Penguin Excellence for his generous donation of LKR 100,000 towards the "Hope for All" project.

This impactful initiative, inspired by the vision of our current Governor, aims to bring meaningful change to those in need by establishing mobile services for vision, dental and diabetes care.

The Lions Club of Kandy Penguin Excellence successfully held its monthly club meeting and directors' meeting on 28th October 2024.

Lions members participated enthusiastically, sharing their insights and dedication to the club's mission. A heartfelt thank you to all who attended and contributed to making the gathering a success.
