🧠 New Research

Ketamine not only relieves treatment-resistant depression, but may also:
✨ Increase social pleasure
✨ Enhance empathy
✨ Support deeper emotional connection

(American Journal of Psychiatry)

💛 Why It Matters

Empathy allows us to connect, understand, and care.
When disrupted—as in depression—it can lead to loneliness and disconnection.

There are currently no approved medications specifically designed to enhance empathy.

🌿 A New Path

Ketamine-assisted therapy may help restore both mood and human connection.

What Clients Say
We have been using the services of Be Well San Miguel since 2016 and have never been disappointed. Deborah has been our go to person for all things health related.. Over the years she has directed us to the best of physicians, and medical facilities. Most important to us is how responsive Deborah is and we are comforted by the fact that we can turn to her and the rest of her bilingual colleagues and staff in an emergency. Be Well ] has always been very responsive . Through Be Well we have completed advanced medical directives as well as putting an emergency plan in place in the event that something goes wrong. We view Be Well’s services as an insurance policy. We consider joining Be Well was one of the smartest moves we have made since we began coming to San Miguel de Allende. (Kiran) 2025

“I have had health challenges from long COVID—fatigue, vertigo, overall weakness. With Deborah’s guidance and referrals to both medical and alternative care, I improved significantly within a month. There are so many services available. Next, we’re putting an advance directive in place—because what you have in the U.S. doesn’t work here. Deborah has deep knowledge of the system and is an exceptional advocate. I’m so grateful she was recommended to me.”
— Cynthia C, 2023
“I’d put myself in Deborah’s hands for anything health-related in San Miguel. She’s the best.”
— Ken S, 2024

On Sunday evening, I heard a woman screaming from my street:
“¡No te lleves a mi bebé!”

By the time I reached the street, a man was in a car holding an infant, accelerating and reversing while the mother lay bleeding on the pavement. Neighbors gathered. Photos were taken. Calls were made.

He drove away with the baby.

No police. No ambulance. A neighbor took her to the hospital.

What stayed with me wasn’t only the violence—it was how quickly it was understood as “domestic.”

In Mexico, much of the most dangerous violence against women happens within relationships. It is less visible, often normalized—and very real.

San Miguel remains relatively calm, and expats are rarely targeted. But we are part of the same landscape.

Awareness matters.
Take violence seriously.
Pay attention to what’s happening around you.
And don’t assume something is “private” just because it happens close to home.
