Rumah Amal Cheshire Selangor (RACS) or Selangor Cheshire Home was set up in December 1963. In 1961, Toh Puan Sadiah Sardon (the founding President), together with Mrs.Collin, Colonel Nigel Watson, Mr Potter, Mr & Mrs Marjoribanks and Mr & Mrs B.E. Wilkinson acquired 3 acres land for RM4,000.00 from the Selangor State Government. Selangor Cheshire Home is a member of Leonard Cheshire International
which was established in 1955 and today covers 255 Homes in 54 countries worldwide. There are total of 6 Cheshire Homes in Malaysia:-
1) 1960 Johor Cheshire Home, Johor
2) 1963 Selangor Cheshire Home, Selangor
3) 1969 Sarawak Cheshire Home, Sarawak
4) 1974 Sabah Cheshire Home (Kota Kinabalu Home in 1982)
5) 1978 Penang Cheshire Home, Penang
6) 2000 Sandakan Cheshire Home, Sabah
During 2007, Selangor Cheshire Home started the Economic Empowerment Programme(EEP) to train the disabled youths to earn self-sustaining employment which is in accordance with the United Nations(UN) Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Selangor Cheshire Home is managed by an elected Management Council, which is made up from volunteers and under the leadership of the President. Address :
