POLICE TO ENFORCE MONTHLY SANITATION EXERCISE AMID CHOLERA OUTBREAK CONCERNS

The Borno State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that, following the recent outbreak of cholera in some parts of Maiduguri and its environs, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, has directed the full enforcement of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled to hold on Saturday, 6th June, 2026 from 0700HRS to 1000HRS.

The enforcement is being carried out in collaboration with the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA) as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental hygiene and mitigate the spread of the contagious disease across the State.

The Command notes that maintaining a clean environment remains one of the most effective preventive measures against cholera and other sanitation-related diseases. Residents are therefore urged to actively participate in the exercise by cleaning their homes, business premises, drainage channels, and surrounding environments.

To ensure compliance, police personnel and other relevant stakeholders will be deployed to strategic locations across the State during the sanitation period. Members of the public are advised to restrict unnecessary movement and cooperate fully with enforcement officers.

The Borno State Police Command assures residents of its commitment to safeguarding public health and maintaining public order while calling on all citizens to support government efforts aimed at preventing the further spread of cholera.

ARREST OF EIGHT SUSPECTS IN ANTI-DRUG RAID IN MAIDUGURI

In line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, to intensify efforts against drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking, and other social vices across the State, operatives of the Command's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Anti-Social Vices Unit have recorded another significant success.

On 1st June, 2026, at about 1420hrs, the RRS Anti-Social Vices Team conducted a targeted raid operation in the Bulumkutu and Dala areas of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), leading to the arrest of eight (8) suspects for alleged possession and consumption of prohibited substances.

During the Raid, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects:
- Forty-six (46) capsules of Tramadol;
- Twelve (12) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian h**p; and
- Two (2) D5 tablets.

The suspects have been charged to court, while the recovered exhibits have been tendered as evidence.

The Borno State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ridding communities of criminal elements and urges members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to combat drug related offences and other forms of criminality.

EID-EL-KABIR: BORNO POLICE COMMAND DEPLOYS ROBUST SECURITY ARCHITECTURE FOR PEACEFUL CELEBRATION, RESTRICT VEHICULAR MOVEMENT

The Borno State Police Command extends warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and all residents of the State on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha.

In line with its constitutional mandate to protect lives and property, the Command has put in place a comprehensive security arrangement to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free celebration across the State.

As announced by the Borno State Government, there will be a temporary restriction on vehicular movement both private and commercial from 6:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, 27th May 2026. This measure is aimed at strengthening security coordination, enhancing crowd management, and preventing potential security threats during the period. Members of the public are kindly urged to comply fully with this directive and cooperate with security personnel deployed across the State.

The Command also advises worshippers to observe Eid prayers at designated Eid grounds closest to their residences in order to minimize unnecessary movement and ease congestion.

To ensure effective security coverage throughout the festivities, personnel of the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, have been strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, and other vulnerable locations across the State. These deployments are to provide crowd control, access regulation, traffic management, surveillance, and general public safety.

Additionally, operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN) Unit have been positioned at key public gathering points to conduct screening and scanning of persons and items entering designated venues as part of proactive measures to prevent any security breach.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and Intelligence Operatives to intensify visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, and sustained patrols across the State throughout the festive period, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and respect for fundamental human rights.

The Command therefore calls on residents to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or objects to the nearest security agency. Parents and guardians are also advised to keep close watch over their children, especially in crowded areas.

The Borno State Police Command reassures the good people of Borno State of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the celebration.

CP NAZIRU ABDULMAJID HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH AREA COMMANDERS, TACTICAL COMMANDERS, AND DPOs ACROSS BORNO STATE

The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to promote professionalism and people oriented policing, today held a strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers across the state.

1. In attendance were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Evans Elam Shem; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Babagana Saje; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Bala Salihu Jarumai; alongside Heads of Departments and other senior officers of the Command.

2. During the meeting, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the need for a more holistic and proactive approach in addressing security concerns within their respective Areas of Responsibility. He directed robust security deployments across the state and charged Divisional Police Officers to uphold professionalism, adopt diplomatic approaches in handling community related issues, and strengthen community engagement strategies to fostering public trust and cooperation.

3. The Commissioner of Police further stressed the importance of intelligence-led policing and tasked officers to intensify intelligence gathering and improve information sharing mechanisms to effectively prevent and respond to security threats.

4. In preparation for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration, the Command is also working closely with other relevant security agencies to develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, hitch-free, and secure celebration across Borno State.

THINGS YOU SHOULDN’T DO AT A SECURITY CHECKPOINT

1. Don’t speed towards a checkpoint.
2. Don’t make phone calls while approaching or being attended to.
3. Roll down your windows so officers can clearly see the interior of the vehicle.
4. Don’t keep your car stereo volume too loud.
5. Don’t keep the vehicle too dark at night; switch on the inner light when necessary.
6. Don’t loiter around the checkpoint unnecessarily.
7. Don’t drop waste or rubbish around the area.
8. Don’t make sudden movements or hide your hands.
9. Don’t argue aggressively with security personnel.
10. Don’t joke about weapons, bombs, or criminal activities.
11. Don’t attempt to bypass the checkpoint.
12. Avoid unnecessary phone use or distractions during security checks.
13. Don’t forget: checkpoints exist for public safety and crime prevention, not punishment.

CP NAZIRU ABDULMAJID COMMISSIONS FIVE NEWLY BUILT POLICE DIVISIONS AND BARRACKS IN BORNO SOUTH

The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, today 18th May 2026, commissioned five newly constructed Police Divisions and eighteen men rank and file quarters each across Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, and Bayo Local Government Areas of Borno State.

The commissioning ceremony attracted critical stakeholders, traditional rulers and community leaders from the benefiting Local Government Areas. Dignitaries present at the occasion included representatives of the Emir of Biu, Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas, and representatives of the Member representing Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Muktar Aliyu Betara, alongside other critical stakeholders.

Speaking during the commissioning on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, the Commissioner of Police expressed immense pleasure over the completion and delivery of the projects, describing them as strategic investments aimed at strengthening security architecture and improving police operational capacity in Borno South.

CP Naziru Abdulmajid noted that the establishment of the new divisions and residential quarters would significantly enhance police visibility, improve response time to security incidents, and provide a more conducive working and living environment for officers and men deployed to the areas.

The CP further emphasized the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police towards community-oriented policing, improved welfare for personnel, and deepening collaboration with communities in the fight against crime and criminality.

He appreciated the support and cooperation of the Borno State Government, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, and residents for their continued partnership with the Police in sustaining peace and security across the State.

CP Naziru Abdulmajid also urged officers posted to the newly commissioned formations to remain professional, disciplined, and committed to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, while calling on members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies.

The event featured symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremonies, inspection of the newly completed facilities, and interactive sessions with community stakeholders.
