Olabisi Onabanjo University Medical Students' Association

As communicated earlier this week, the Office of the Director of Sports will be hosting a football friendly tournament, amongst other sporting events, between all the classes in the association. This is in preparation for the NiMSA Games, coming up in August.

Do note that these matches will serve as a means for professional scouting coaches contacted by the association to scout and select the official football team to represent OOUMSA at the 2024 NiMSA Games.

Yesterday, Tuesday, May 21st, the Executive Council (EC) members had a productive meeting with the Dean of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Ayoade, and the Faculty Officer.

We were warmly welcomed and had a fruitful discussion about our plans and concerns. We shared the issues our members in the clinical classes are facing, and the Dean and Faculty Officer offered valuable suggestions on how to address them.

They also provided insight into how we can improve our student body and avoid potential issues with the Faculty. We appreciate their assurance that the Faculty will do its best to support our Clinical students' needs.

We look forward to continued collaboration and progress.

Yesterday, 16th May, OOUMSA was ably represented at the Annual General meeting of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), at NMA house, Abeokuta.

We appreciate the NAGGMDP Chairman; Dr Ajayi Abiodun and his team, for the warm reception we received. We also appreciate the audience we were given by the Ogun NMA Chairman; Dr Ashimi, Permanent Secretaries, and our patron, Dr. Kukoyi—who was one of the speakers at the event.

We believe outings like this will not only develop us individually, but also strengthen our bonds with mother associations.

Earlier today, the newly elected executives and senate members, stood united in purpose and commitment as we took on the solemn oath of responsibility in guiding our association forward.

With unwavering resolve and deep reverence for the principles that underpin our association, we individually and collectively embraced the privilege of assuming our roles. In doing so, we pledged to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and service to the best of our abilities; and we were privileged to have the Provost present.

On this occasion, we celebrated the transition of leadership and bid farewell to the caretaker committee and the previous senate, recognizing their tireless efforts and invaluable contributions to our association during their tenure. Their dedication has laid a strong foundation for the future success of our community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.

With humility and determination, we look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Guided by the trust placed in us by OOUMSAites, we are committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity, excellence, and innovation.

Last month, on the 14th, the leadership of Olabisi Onabanjo University Medical Student Association led by President Adu Ayomikun(Fabulous) together with some members of the Executive Committee paid a courtesy visit to the newly admitted medical students of the institution.
This visit was aimed at giving the students an insight to what medical school entails, a brief overview of the curriculum, their overall wellbeing and many more.
