We would like to remind our valued clients and fans that the Nigerian Legion is a paramilitary organization under the Veteran's Affairs Division (VAD) of the Ministry of Defense (DHQ) in Abuja, FCT, with affiliation to the British Commonwealth organization. As such, we deploy our officers to clients, and it is vital to understand that clients do not directly employ our officers. The distinction between employment and deployment is significant. Some clients have inquired about interviewing officers before deployment, but this is not possible as clients do not have a direct contract or business relationship with the officer. The term deployment refers to the strategic assignment of personnel to specific locations for a designated period, which differs substantially from employment. We select suitable officers for deployment based on client requests, eliminating the need for client interviews. Our contractual agreements are solely between the Nigerian Legion and our clients. To utilize our services, clients must submit a formal letter of request addressed to the Commander, Nigerian Legion Unit 101, Amuwo Odofin Corps of Commissioners, Lagos State Command, and adhere to our established procedures to ensure seamless deployment. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Best regards, Commander Nigerian Legion Unit 101

The following high-ranking military officers have been killed by bandits/terrorists. It is a common phenomenon for citizens to remain calm and assume that the Nigerian Armed Forces/security agencies are responsible for the insecurity in our country, overlooking the fact that they are paying the ultimate price. However, how can one justify arming their enemies, who view their existence as a threat? The Nigerian Armed Forces have suffered casualties due to terrorist attacks, yet citizens rarely acknowledge it. You all seem less concerned, but any attack on civilians receives significant attention. When civilians are killed, attacked, or kidnapped, everyone takes to social media to blame and accuse security agencies of failing to protect them and their communities. However, when our heroes are attacked and killed, like these high-ranking officers, you will not acknowledge your role in empowering insecurity through social media propaganda and political, religious, and tribal discrimination. Nigeria is the only country that mocks the death of its security personnel. It is one of the most lawless countries globally, where citizens create, sponsor, and support terrorism, only to blame their security agencies and the federal government. On a daily basis, our security personnel, both lower- and high-ranking officers, are attacked and killed. However, none of your local politicians, not even a local government chairman, have been killed. Citizens who do not want to join any security agency and cannot advise their youth to join security agencies, yet they want someone else's children to protect them and stop insecurity. You do not want to die, but you want to go to heaven. Lastly, Nigeria is us, and we are Nigerians; no country is coming to save you except you, as every other country has its selfish interests.

On the occasion of the Nigerian Navy's 70th anniversary, we acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices of all Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies in maintaining national safety and unity. Over the past 50 decades, we have confronted numerous challenges, including hatred and propaganda, yet we remain resolute in our commitment to our nation. We pay tribute to the NA, NN, NAF, DSS, NPF, NL, and NSCDC. We are grateful for the divine protection of the Almighty and appreciate the support of our patrons and clients. As security is a shared responsibility, we invite you to support or join us in protecting our nation. From the office of the
Commander
Nigerian Legion

Greetings
We want to discuss about Nigeria insecurities..
Most times Nigeria citizens always point their finger 🤞 on the president for insecurities while they forget that every state has their own security agencies including LGA, how then can we be waiting for president to provide security for every communities, every state and local government has army, navy, air force and Police 🚓 barracks and station with other security agency, security is a collective effort not only for security agency alone, every governors and local government chairman are to hold hold responsible for insecurities, the federal government are not responsible for insecurities in your communities..
Federal government are not the once to order army or police 🚓 and other security agency on how to handle insecurities..
Civilian are also to be blamed too because they negligent to play a vital role in security areas, because the bandits are in our communities and most civilian knows them and their whereabouts but they always support bandit because of their selfish interest, because of their hatred for our country, because of their hatred for our president,
Believe it or not these are things that is killing Nigeria..
Political, religious and tribal discrimination...
Which is armed by propaganda..
If our citizens will remove all these mentioned above our country will be far better,
Nigeria is not worst as people assumed it is, our citizens are the once giving Nigeria a bad name due to their selfish reasons,
Example: bandit in the Northern Nigeria are called bandit
But bandit and criminal in the south eaten Nigeria are called freedom fighter, can you imagine this kind of mentality..
No civilian want to join security agency and not family want their family members to join security agency but yet they want other people children to protect them and sacrifice their life for them,
Forgotten that if you can see a change in others you become the change you need,
We keep saying that if we can have a good and law abiding citizen we can never provide a good leaders,
Note: that Nigeria is a country where there is high level of lawless citizens..
Who want right things to be done and always put the blame on their leaders , yet they can never do the Right things at right time in a right place..
The whole world is facing insecurities but Nigeria own seems worst because of social media abuse from our citizens..
Our citizens love posting bad news about our leaders and security but they hate to post good once our our leaders and security agency..
Believe it or not is your mindset is that Nigeria has spoiled and can never be fix that means you as a citizen you have spoiled and can never be fix because nobody is named Nigeria..
Democracy is not good for Nigeria because insecurities started since democracy entered Nigeria,
Bandit are citizens and enemy of Nigeria,
Sponsor, project and supported by Nigeria citizens,
Security personals are commanded by the same civilians ...
Many countries are facing insecurities worst then Nigeria but you can never hear or see them on social media talking about it...
If your state, local government or community is facing insecurities kindly hold your governor, LGA chairman and chancellor responsible, not the president and the same with development too .
We are Nigerian and Nigerian is Us let's join hands together to fix our country for our own good..

*Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires* — often just called “Commissionaires” — are the uniformed, paramilitary arm of the Nigerian Legion. They’re not soldiers, but they’re trained and organized to support security and veterans’ welfare.

# # # *1. Who are they and what’s the legal backing?*

The _Nigerian Legion Act Cap.N119 Laws of the Federation_ mandates the Nigerian Legion to establish the *Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires*. The idea: give ex-servicemen jobs and use their military experience for national service, while also caring for veterans and their families.

It was originally set up in 1962 as a Federal Government project to employ ex-servicemen and women with “exemplary, good, very good or excellent” discharge ratings.

# # # *2. What do Commissionaires actually do?*

They’re unarmed but trained for security and community roles:

- *School crime & surveillance*: Many schools in states like Oyo are monitored by Commissionaires.
- *Infrastructure surveillance*: Watching critical facilities.
- *Disaster management & humanitarian assistance*: Helping veterans’ families and communities.
- *Information gathering*: Because they live in communities, they’re trained as credible informants for the Armed Forces and Police.
- *Election duties*: They play a role during elections but are required to be apolitical.

The Legion stresses they are _not_ military. Their role is “distinct and service-oriented”.

# # # *3. Structure & Leadership*

- *Oversight*: The Corps is a “baby of the Ministry of Defence”. In 2026 the Defence Minister set up an 18-member committee to reposition the Corps and use veterans to “reclaim ungoverned spaces”.
- *Command*: State chairmen of the Nigerian Legion double as *Commandants of the Commissionaires* in their states.
- *National Chairman*: As of 2025, Ms. Grace Morenike Henry is the first female National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion. She’s also pushed zero tolerance for indiscipline.

# # # *4. Training & Discipline*

They go through formal training courses. Course 14 in 2025 had over 80 Commissionaires trained in Suleja, Niger State. Course 16 passed out 220 Commissionaires in April 2026.

At passing out parades, they’re warned against misconduct — any act that brings the Legion into disrepute can lead to dismissal. They’re also told not to equate their paramilitary training with military status.

# # # *5. Recent developments*

- *Reforms*: The Legion is reviewing uniforms and ranks for Commissionaires.
- *Repositioning*: FG wants to use military retirees/Commissionaires to help with national security and “reclaim ungoverned spaces”.
- *De-ranking nullified*: In Feb 2026, the Legion nullified earlier de-ranking of Commissionaires pending a Ministry of Defence committee review.

# # # *Bottom line*

The Corps of Commissionaires = veterans + civilians trained to serve as the Nigerian Legion’s security and welfare arm. They bridge the gap between ex-servicemen and society: providing jobs for veterans, protecting schools/infrastructure, and feeding intel to security agencies — all while staying unarmed and apolitical.
