401 Apprehended in Cebu-Wide Safer Cities Operations; CPPO Sustains Discipline and Visibility Drive
The Cebu Police Provincial Office recorded a total of 401 individuals apprehended during intensified province-wide operations conducted on June 14, 2026, under the Safer Cities Initiative, mandated by the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government, Juanito Victor โJonvicโ Remulla Jr., through the strict implementation of OPLAN Bulabog, OPLAN Sita, and Night Watch.
A total of 238 police operations were carried out across Cebu Province, resulting in the collection of โฑ103,150.00 in fines, reflecting sustained efforts to strengthen police visibility and enforce local ordinances in both urban and rural communities.
Data shows that city and municipal traffic ordinance violations recorded the highest number with 236 cases, followed by drinking in public places (42), curfew violations involving minors (67), smoking in public places (21), roaming without shirts (21), videoke/karaoke beyond allowed hours (7), and other local ordinance violations (7). No incidents of vandalism, balaclava use, or obstruction-related violations were recorded, indicating improved public compliance.
Of the total apprehended individuals, 236 were fined, while 165 were warned and released, with no cases elevated to court, reflecting CPPOโs continued emphasis on corrective, preventive, and community-based policing.
PCOL ABUBAKAR UDANG MANGELEN JR., Provincial Director of CPPO, emphasized that discipline must be a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community. โDiscipline remains the cornerstone of peace and order. While we continue to enforce the law with consistency, we also remind the public that lasting safety begins at home and is strengthened by community cooperation. Our operations are meant to guide behavior and promote responsibility among all Cebuanos,โ PCOL Mangelen stated.
Police Regional Office 7 Director PBGEN ARNOLD EVANGELISTA ABAD commended CPPO for its sustained enforcement efforts and highlighted the importance of public cooperation. โThe continued success of the Safer Cities Initiative in Cebu reflects the dedication of our personnel on the ground. However, this effort is most effective when supported by an equally responsible and disciplined community. We urge the public to remain cooperative in maintaining peace and order,โ PBGEN Abad said.
Governor PAMELA S. BARICUATRO expressed strong support for the initiative, stressing shared accountability in maintaining public safety. โThe Provincial Government fully supports the intensified efforts of CPPO. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage all Cebuanos to continue practicing discipline and supporting law enforcement initiatives that promote peace and order across the province,โ Gov. Baricuatro stated.
