Bantayan and Binalayan Barangays Enhance Development Plans

ORAS, Eastern Samar – The Barangays of Bantayan and Binalayan participated in the Enhancement of Barangay Development Plan (BDP) Workshop held on June 8, 2026, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipal Building, Oras, Eastern Samar.

The activity aimed to strengthen and update the respective Barangay Development Plans to ensure that priority programs, projects, and activities are aligned with the development needs of the communities and the overall goals of local governance.

The workshop was spearheaded by OIC MLGOO Erlinda R. Gajol of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Oras, who provided technical guidance and assistance to barangay officials and functionaries in refining their development plans.

The enhancement activity underscores the commitment of DILG Oras and the participating barangays to promote responsive, inclusive, and sustainable local development through effective planning and governance.

LGU Oras Conducts Ugnayan sa Barangay in Bantayan and Binalayan Under RCSP Program

ORAS, EASTERN SAMAR – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Oras successfully conducted the Ugnayan sa Barangay activity in Barangays Bantayan and Binalayan as part of the implementation of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) aimed at addressing community concerns and bringing government services closer to the people.

The activity was spearheaded by the LGU of Oras through the active support and leadership of Mayor Roy C. Ador, in collaboration with partner agencies and offices including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

The Ugnayan sa Barangay served as a platform for government agencies to directly engage with residents, listen to their concerns, and provide updates on government programs and services. It also promoted greater community participation in identifying local issues and developing appropriate interventions to address them.

As one of the key activities under the RCSP, the program seeks to strengthen government presence in communities, enhance the delivery of basic services, and foster collaboration among stakeholders in promoting peace, development, and inclusive governance.

During the activity, residents were given the opportunity to raise concerns and discuss issues affecting their communities. The dialogue reinforced the commitment of the government to responsive and people-centered public service.

The successful conduct of the activity reflects the continued commitment of the LGU of Oras and its partner agencies to strengthen grassroots governance and support the overall objectives of the Retooled Community Support Program.

OIC MLGOO Erlinda R. Gajol of the DILG Oras Municipal Office recently met with clients from Barangay Balingasag on May 18 and 19, 2026 to discuss various concerns affecting their barangay.

During the dialogue, MLGOO Gajol listened to the issues and concerns raised by the barangay officials and provided guidance and clarification on matters related to local governance and barangay administration. The discussion also served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination and communication between the barangay officials and the DILG.

DILG Oras remains committed in providing assistance and support to barangays to help ensure effective and responsive local governance in the municipality.

DILG Oras Joins Special Meeting of the Liga ng mga Barangay

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Oras Municipal Office participated in the Special Meeting of the Liga ng mga Barangay held on May 19, 2026 at the ACCL Hall, Oras, E. Samar.

OIC MLGOO Erlinda R. Gajol provided updates and feedback on the recently conducted BADAC and BPOC Audit. She also discussed the tentative schedule for the Training on the Barangay Information Management System (BIMS) for Punong Barangays and Barangay Secretaries, the proposed Financial Literacy Refresher Course for Barangay Treasurers, and the updating of the Barangay Development Plan.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, MLGOO Gajol likewise highlighted the conduct of the Inventory and Turnover of Barangay Properties. Other important matters concerning barangay financial transactions and governance were also discussed during the meeting.

Key department heads from the local government unit also attended the activity to provide updates from their respective offices.

DILG Oras Municipal Office Joins 2nd Quarter Joint LCPC and LCAT-VAWC Meeting and Special Meeting for MTF-ELCAC

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Oras Municipal Office actively participated in the 2nd Quarter Joint Meeting of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC), together with the Special Meeting of the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) on May 14, 2026 at the ACCL Hall, Oras, E. Samar.

During the meeting, OIC MLGOO Erlinda R. Gajol presented feedback on the results of the recently conducted LCPC Functionality Assessment and the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA). The presentation highlighted the municipality’s current performance and areas for improvement in promoting child welfare and ensuring child-friendly governance.

Various child-related concerns and issues were likewise discussed and addressed by the members of the council, emphasizing the importance of strengthened collaboration among stakeholders in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children in the municipality.

In line with the advocacy to protect women and children, the council also revisited existing LCAT-VAWC legislative issuances and policies to further enhance local mechanisms and interventions against violence and trafficking.

Meanwhile, members of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) Team provided updates on their ongoing activities and initiatives. OIC MLGOO Gajol also presented the calendar of activities for the two newly identified RCSP target barangays, aimed at strengthening community engagement, development interventions, and responsive governance at the grassroots level.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the DILG, local councils, and partner agencies in promoting child protection, peace-building efforts, and inclusive local governance in the Municipality of Oras.
