Bi-weekly ‘Hataw’ Dance Fitness Program returns

In a vibrant push for workplace wellness and community health, the Local Government Unit of Lambunao has officially launched its "Hataw Dance Exercise" program for 2026.

The health initiative aims to combat sedentary office habits, reduce stress, and foster stronger camaraderie among government employees.

As announced by senior administrative assistant Dr. Flordelyn G. Amon during last week's flag-raising ceremony, the dance sessions are scheduled twice a week starting June 8, taking place every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15 in the afternoon.

Each session is designed as a swift but impactful 30-minute workout, making it easy for participants to incorporate physical activity into their busy weekly schedules without disrupting essential public services.

The return of the Hataw program aligns with the municipality's ongoing commitment to promoting a holistic, healthy lifestyle.

By transforming the late afternoon break into an active fitness hour, LGU Lambunao hopes to inspire other sectors and neighboring communities to prioritize physical well-being.

Lambunao links freedom to public service

“𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬.”

This was the central message of Iloilo 3rd District Board Member Jason R. Gonzales as he addressed local officials, municipal employees, and community stakeholders during the 128th Philippine Independence Day celebration at the Lambunao Government Center.

Reflecting deeply on the national theme of "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan" (Freedom. Future. History), BM Gonzales emphasized that while the nation's ancestors successfully broke the chains of foreign oppression, subsequent generations inherited an equally challenging mission—that is, nation-building.

In an intellectual and historical deep dive, BM Gonzales traced the roots of the Filipino identity, noting that centuries ago, the archipelago was merely a collection of scattered islands with no unified name, identity, or single language, referencing the famous political thesis of scholar Benedict Anderson, who wrote about 'imagined communities,' that a nation starts in the mind with a vision.

However, BM Gonzales emphasized that an intellectual vision alone is not enough to sustain a country, as we are living up to that immense responsibility.

Moving past purely historical reflections, he redefined what true independence means for modern Filipinos, challenging the Lambunaonons to confront immediate socioeconomic and political battles.

Those powerful statements resonated with all the civil servants present, whether elected or not, identifying the modern battlefields on which patriotism must be practiced.

Following his address, the program culminated in a symbolic and visual peace rite.

Mayor Reynor R. Gonzales, along with BM Gonzales and local dignitaries, led a wreath-laying and the release of white doves, symbolizing the town's unified pursuit of community freedom, peace, and progressive local governance.
