In line with the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to prevent urban flooding, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Barrister Sultan Bajwa visited Faisalabad and co-chaired a high-level review meeting with Commissioner Faisalabad Musarrat Jabeen. The meeting, attended by senior officials from FDA, WASA, PHA, and other civic agencies, focused on accelerating monsoon safety operations and development projects under the Punjab Development Program. Barrister Bajwa directed WASA to ensure all de-watering sets are 100% operational near low-lying zones, complete all roadside drain de-silting by June 15, and run 9 de-silting machines 24/7 to clear pounding areas. To test overall operational readiness, a comprehensive mock exercise was finalized for June 10, while all 15 emergency response camps were ordered to be fully activated.

The leadership also prioritized mega infrastructure development, ordering uninterrupted progress on the foreign-funded Wastewater Treatment Plant and fast-tracking 14 schemes under the Rs. 10 billion Chief Minister’s Package and 2 packages under the Rs. 12 billion Punjab Development Program. For immediate urban relief, the Commissioner set a strict June 30 deadline to fully restore 23 road cuts with a mandate for daily photographic progress updates, while prioritizing Muharram procession routes. Furthermore, a new structural policy was introduced requiring an official NOC from WASA detailing sewerage life and capacity before any future street or road construction can be executed in the city.

Punjab WASA encourages citizens to adopt sustainable water management solutions by utilizing advanced conservation methods. With the upcoming rainy season, transforming rainfall from a drainage challenge into a valuable resource is essential for securing our region's hydrological future. By implementing eco-friendly systems like rooftop rainwater harvesting, communities can capture and store clean rainwater directly from roofs for daily household and gardening utilities, significantly reducing reliance on municipal supplies. 🌍✨

Furthermore, adopting deep-soil preservation technologies can permanently replenish our natural resources. Setting up dedicated borewell recharge pits allows filtered excess stormwater to be diverted directly into the ground, actively reviving depleting local aquifers. This natural process of groundwater recharging enhances underground water tables, ensuring sustainable resource availability during peak dry months. Let's work together to secure our natural water reservesβ€”harvest the rain and replenish the earth! πŸ€πŸ‡΅πŸ‡°
