Commemoration Message on Martyrs’ Day.
On this solemn day, the SPLM Secretariat in the Abyei Special Administrative Area, joins the rest of the nation in honoring our Martyrs’ Day, a day of deep remembrance and patriotic reflection.
On behalf of the SPLM leadership in Abyei, under the stewardship of H.E. Cde. Justice Charles Abyei, Chairperson of the SPLM and Chief Administrator of Abyei Special Administrative Area, we salute the memories of our fallen heroes and heroines. Their blood was not shed in vain, it gave birth to a Republic of South Sudan built on justice, equality, and hope for generations to come.
We commemorate the heroic sons and daughters of our land who paid the ultimate price for the dignity, freedom, and independence of South Sudan. Their sacrifices, made with unmatched courage and unwavering commitment, laid the foundation upon which our nation now stands.
Under the guiding vision of the SPLM and the enduring legacy of our Late. Chairman Cde. Dr. John Garang de Mabior and all the SPLA commanders and foot soldiers who walked the path of resistance and hope.
The SPLA led a movement that gave voice and dignity to the marginalized people of Sudan. Our martyrs shed their blood not for personal gain, but for the collective future of a free South Sudan where every citizen regardless of region, ethnicity, or status can live with dignity and equal opportunity.
The people of Abyei played and continue to play a vital role in the liberation struggle. Many of our sons and daughters served with honor in the ranks of the SPLA. Their names may not all be known, but their legacy lives on in every inch of freedom we now enjoy.
The SPLM in Abyei Special Administrative Area remains fully committed to the cause of our people. We shall never forget the blood that was shed for our freedom, nor shall we waver in defending the future that our martyrs envisioned.
As custodians of their legacy, we have a solemn duty to preserve the peace they fought for, defend the unity they envisioned, and deliver development and truth to our people.
Let this day renew our collective responsibility to build a stronger Abyei and a united South Sudan.
May the memory of our martyrs inspire us to greater service.
May the souls of our fallen heroes and heroines continue to rest in eternal peace.
Long live the spirit of our martyrs!
Long live the SPLM!
Long live the people of Abyei!
Long live the Republic of South Sudan!
