Lots of food scraps generated over a holiday weekend filled with picnics, parties, and other gatherings. Please make sure discarded food items (including animal products) go in the organics (green) container and be sure to remove ALL packaging, especially
plast-ICKS.

Thank you for helping to improve the quality of the compost California produces.

This is organic waste contamination! Remember to keep it clean in the green! 🌿

Only put loose yard waste and bagged food waste in your green organics barrel — no glass or trash! Contaminants pose a safety hazard, contaminates green waste, and disrupts the composting process.

Sorting your waste helps reduce landfill use, keeps recyclables clean, and turns organics into nutrient-rich compost that benefits our environment.

Being thrifty is nifty! Carefully and wisely managing your money and resources to avoid waste is so “retro” and yet, timeless.

Thanks to Treehugger for the reminder.

Tiny pollinators do so much to support the natural beauty around us and the food systems we rely on every day. From blooming flowers to fresh fruits and vegetables, bees play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems thriving.

Today, let’s toast these essential workers with a delicious sip of water, like these bees at the Edison Elementary Sensory Garden, and take a moment to appreciate these incredible little workers and the impact they make on our world everyday. 🌍💛
