Sexual violence doesn’t end when the moment does. For many survivors, the impact can show up later as post-traumatic stress.

PTSD isn’t just something that happens after combat. It can affect anyone who experiences trauma, including sexual violence. It may look like flashbacks, trouble sleeping, feeling on edge, or avoiding reminders of what happened.

These responses are not a sign of weakness—they’re how the brain tries to cope with something overwhelming.

Learning this helps us show up with more understanding, less judgment, and real support.

🍳June shelter wish list is here!🍽️

This month, we're focusing on restocking our shelter kitchen with supplies residents use to cook meals and prep lunches!

For many of the survivors and families staying in the shelter, having access to a kitchen provides comfort, independence, normalcy, and a chance to care for themselves and their children during a difficult time.

If you're looking for a way to support survivors in our community, consider donating an item from our June Wish List. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a direct impact on the survivors we serve.

You can help by:
💜 Donating an item from our wish list
🩵 Hosting a collection drive
💜 Sharing this post to help us reach more community members
🩵 Adopting a night to provide dinner for shelter residents

Have questions about donating? Feel free to DM us on here or call McKayla at 704-481-0180!
