Charlotte I-77 debate stirs memories for families displaced by highways in the ‘60s Now, they are “saddened and angry” that NCDOT may displace more Charlotte families in historically Black communities for the I-77S toll plan.

As a part of a national effort with @eji_org the Charlotte Remembrance Project is telling the dark and difficult stories of Charlottes history of lynching. Yesterday, a marker was unveiled that will ensure that this history is never forgotten. It does not change the past, but it is an important step to reckoning with the truth of what has happened in our city, and all over this country. It happened here.
