Care and Share’s SoCo Local Food Initiative began several years ago, when we received grant funds to purchase locally-grown and produced food and distribute it to underserved populations.
Since the program’s inception, we have worked with 14 small and mid-size farms and two farm co-ops in Colorado.
The food we purchase is distributed through two avenues: our own Mobile Market and partner food pantries.
Supporting these farms supports the local food network, investing in small businesses and providing fresh, nutritious food to neighbors in food deserts who need it most.
When you support Care and Share, you support initiatives that strengthen community resilience and self-sufficiency.
Stay tuned throughout the summer as we introduce you to some of our partner food producers, pantries, and neighbors who are impacted by this initiative.

🔍 SNAP Myth #1
Myth: SNAP, Food Stamps, and EBT are different programs.
Fact: SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Food Stamps are the same program. "Food Stamps" is simply the older name that many people still use. EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards are the way participants access and use their SNAP benefits to purchase food.

Something big is coming.
From July 1–7, Care and Share Food Bank is joining Nourish the American Dream, a national movement with that brings nonprofits across the country together for a shared goal: to nourish every child’s potential.
Every dollar we raise supports Care and Share Food Bank and our mission to fight food insecurity. Together with participating organizations, we’re working toward a collective goal of $5 million to help more children and families access the food they need to thrive.
Because the American Dream starts with a full plate. Stay tuned to get involved.

• Enrolled at least half-time in school, college, or a training program
• Receiving or have applied for unemployment benefits
• Regularly participating in a drug or alcohol treatment program
