Volunteers showed up to make a plan of action for immigrant civil rights!
On Sunday, we studied and strategized together to sharpen our demands to Dallas City Council. In order to stop the city from collaborating with ICE, we created the next step in the campaign: to inform our community about the laws that allow the police to racially profile immigrants.
Dallas city officials refuse to do anything to protect immigrants. It's the community that is stepping up to fight back against ICE. It's clear that Dallas wants our neighbors safe from deportations and racist policing, so we're committing ourselves to keep our community safe.

๐จImmigrant Rights = Workers Rights = Civil Rights๐จ
Dallas has been deeply affected and damaged by ICE and the lack of fight back seen in our local government. Despite the deep unpopularity of programs like 287(g), which deputizes all local police as immigration agents, DPD and city council have refused to institute what the people of Dallas demand: No collaboration with ICE in Dallas.
Join us, on June 14th at 1PM, for a volunteer meeting to learn more about the demands listed in the second slide and create a community strategy for turning the fear in our communities into political action.

Last year, Dallas was named the most expensive city in Texas to live in. The average income just to be able to afford a rental in the city is $71,000.
Every day, working people bear the brunt of the cost-of-living crisis. City leadership, landlords, and companies benefit from this system that puts profits before people's lives.
It has been a week since the apartment explosion in Oak Cliff devastated our community. OUR community stepped up to meet the needs of the people whose lives are forever changed by this terrible tragedy. Not the proper management company, not the gas or drilling company, and not city leadership.
Thousands of donations came pouring into community hubs. Residents affected by the explosion have been housed by groups local to Oak Cliff.
Meanwhile, city officials will continue to prepare for an influx of tourists into Dallas for the FIFA World Cup. Just last week, an order was passed to restrict groups from feeding homeless people. These politicians want to displace and disappear the homeless from areas with high tourist traffic.
In a city with so much wealth and resources hoarded by a few, we have the money to build a better future. We have to fight for it together. We have proven in the last week that when we come together we are stronger. We can work together to build a socialist future, a better future for all!

We raised $1,000+ at Thursdayโs fundraiser and discussion. The panelists shared lessons from their time in Cuba. We learned that, despite the harsh conditions imposed by the U.S., Cuban society is a beacon of democracy, education, and resiliency.
Cuba is being strangled by a deadly blockade. Every day, people are surviving through shortages of fuel and medicine. To add to the cruelty, Trump threatens to go to war with Cuba. More than ever, we must stand in solidarity with the Cuban people.
