Want to see conservation practices working in the field instead of just hearing about them?

The Above the Canopy Field Day near Minburn on June 23 will bring farmers, conservation partners and industry leaders together for real-world conversations around practical conservation solutions.

The day will include:
• A live Hagie interseeder demonstration
• Cover crop benefits and cost-share opportunities
• A Beaver Creek saturated buffer demonstration
• Farmer-led discussions focused on what works in the field

INREC is proud to work alongside partners like Heartland Cooperative to help support conservation conversations and hands-on learning opportunities across Iowa.

Lunch will be provided by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.

Sidedressing will be here before we know it, and nitrogen decisions do not get any easier once you are in the field.

Tools like N-FACT can help you make more informed choices by using data to guide nitrogen applications based on field conditions and crop needs. Instead of relying on guesswork, you can look at real information to help time and rate applications more effectively.

If you are starting to think ahead to sidedress season, now is a good time to get familiar with tools that can support better in-season decisions. https://bit.ly/3EWzQeC

Good decisions start with good data.

This mapping project from Iowa State University brings together a baseline inventory of conservation practices across Iowa, using geospatial data and aerial imagery to support watershed modeling and long-term tracking.

Resources like this help support the broader work happening through INREC by improving how we understand where practices exist and where opportunities remain.

Explore the project and see how data is being used to support conservation planning across the state.

Nitrogen is a costly input, and guessing your sidedress rate isn’t cutting it anymore.

Tools like N-FACT are changing the game by using real on-farm data to help dial in how much nitrogen your crop actually needs. You’re not just protecting your soil, you’re protecting your bottom line.

Planning ahead matters. The right rate at the right time can help reduce loss, improve efficiency and avoid putting dollars in the ground that never make it to the crop.

With input costs where they are today, knowing your numbers isn’t optional. It’s essential.
