Based on groundbreaking scholarly research, this exciting project will bring local history directly into the hands of middle school students across the county, helping a new generation connect with the people, places, and events that shaped our community.
Award-winning cartoonist, author, and illustrator Jonathan Hill will discuss the creative process of transforming historical research into a compelling visual story. Hill's acclaimed work has earned national recognition, including the Carla Cohen Free Speech Award and the Believer Book Award for Graphic Literature.
Made possible through funding from the A.P. Kirby Foundation, this innovative graphic novel is helping make history more accessible, engaging, and relevant for today's students.

Last week, Coca-Cola Park became the stage for something truly extraordinary as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and The Bach Choir of Bethlehem brought our community together for Let Freedom Sing- a powerful celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
From school, community, and adult choirs filling the ballpark with patriotic music, to the moving storytelling behind each song, to the incredible grand finale sing-along and fireworks display, the evening was a testament to the power of music to unite, inspire, and celebrate our shared history.
Lehigh Valley 250 was proud to support this historic collaboration and help bring thousands of voices together in one unforgettable moment for our region. Senator Lisa M. Boscola was interviewed for the WFMZ story and said, “The Senate is Republican majority, the House is Democrat majority, we have a Democratic governor,” Boscola said. “You can’t do anything unless you work together. If you’re going to be a region that wants to secure funding dollars, you have to work together.”
