Assessing the fight at the Southern Border 🪖

Maj. Gen. Curtis Taylor, commanding general of the 1st Armored Division and Joint Task Force–Southern Border, met with Soldiers and Marines supporting border security operations near San Diego, Calif., June 10, 2026. The visit allowed 1AD leadership to assess mission progress, infrastructure needs and troop welfare across the operating area.

During the tour, service members demonstrated key capabilities, including counter‑UAS tools such as the Dronebuster. The engagement highlighted the teamwork between 1AD Soldiers, Marine units and interagency partners working to support the mission along the U.S.–Mexico border.

Division Sustainment Troops Battalion welcomes new commander 🇺🇸

Col. Delarius Tarlton, commander of the Division Sustainment Brigade, 1st Armored Division, passed the Division Sustainment Troops Battalion colors from Lt. Col. Carolina Cruz to Lt. Col. Ameaa Lago during a change of command ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas, June 12, 2026.

The passing of the colors marks the official transfer of authority, responsibility and trust. We thank Lt. Col. Cruz for her dedicated leadership and service to the battalion, and welcome Lt. Col. Lago as she steps into command and leads DSTB forward.

🥇 Muleskinners take the win

Soldiers from the Muleskinner Dining Facility, Division Sustainment Brigade, 1st Armored Division, were awarded the 2025 Thanksgiving Trophy for the best holiday meal at Fort Bliss. Their pride, teamwork and dedication show in every mission — even during the holidays.

Lt. Col. Tad Coleman also recognized DFAC leaders Staff Sgt. Zuheily Torres, Staff Sgt. Markel McWashington, Sgt. 1st Class Charlene Perez and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joshwa Quinzon for their outstanding work.

Joint recon in motion 🚁

CW2 Cary Price and Pfc. Warren Miranda, UH‑60M Black Hawk crew members with 3rd Battalion, 501st Assault Helicopter Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, conducted preflight checks and aerial reconnaissance with U.S. Marines in El Cajon, California.

As part of Joint Task Force–Southern Border, these 1st Armored Division aviators strengthened joint partnerships through rapid infiltration and exfiltration while providing real‑time reconnaissance to support mission success. 🦅🇺🇸

at America's Tank Division 🔥

Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, strengthened the Division’s warfighting readiness as crews executed Tank Gunnery Table VI.

Day and night engagements pushed every crew to prove their precision, teamwork and lethal proficiency across America’s Tank Division. READY FIRST Soldiers continue driving combat readiness one round at a time. 💥

⚒️ Iron Sappers Activated ⚒️

Soldiers stood in formation today as the 1st Armored Division officially activated the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Engineer Brigade, on Fort Bliss, Texas.

Capt. Alexander Chastain and 1st Sgt. Robert Johnson, the HHC command team, uncased the guidon and rendered honors as the brigade marked a major shift in operational focus — restructuring to meet the demands of large‑scale combat operations.

Col. Ada Cotto joined the ceremony as the brigade begins its next chapter, strengthening the division’s ability to command and synchronize engineer operations across the modern battlefield.

1st Armored Brigade Combat Team leadership transition 🇺🇸

The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, held combined assumption of responsibility and change‑of‑command ceremonies at Forward Operating Site Konotop, Poland, June 11, 2026. Command Sgt. Maj. Jeremiah A. Enfield assumed responsibility as the brigade’s senior enlisted leader, and Col. Richard Montcalm assumed command of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team.

We thank Col. Bryan W. Frizzelle for his dedicated leadership and service to the Soldiers of READY FIRST, while welcoming the new command team as they lead Soldiers and mission readiness forward across the European theater.
