Today marks the 54th Anniversary of Title IX, a landmark federal civil rights law that opened doors and expanded opportunities for women and girls in education and athletics.

As we celebrate its impact, we must also protect its original promise: equal opportunities for female athletes.

That’s why we’re calling on CIF and the CA Legislature to stand up for girls’ sports and ensure that female athletes have a fair and safe playing field.

Title IX was created to protect girls’ opportunities, not diminish them. Let’s honor its legacy by defending the future of girls’ sports.

Ep. 99: Hate Speech, Free Speech, and Sacramento's New Training Mandates

In this episode of Coffee Culture and the Capitol, Sophia Lorey and Greg Burt break down AB 1803 and AB 1578—two controversial proposals that would require mandatory anti-hate training for employees and elected officials across California. Supporters say the bills combat discrimination, but critics warn they could be used to silence dissenting viewpoints and pressure Californians to conform to government-approved beliefs.

Sophia shares her experience testifying against AB 1803, while Greg discusses his testimony on AB 1578 and the heated exchanges that followed in committee hearings. Together, they examine the growing debate over free speech, religious freedom, gender ideology, and whether Sacramento is crossing the line from education into ideological reeducation.

They also discuss California Family Council's upcoming Lobby Day, how everyday citizens can engage directly with lawmakers, and why showing up matters in the fight for life, family, and liberty.

“So I have a simple question to ask: Why is safety never the thing we are worried about here? Look at those who you are sacrificing to protect abortion and gender ideology.” - CFC Vice President Greg Burt

🚨 California is once again putting ideology ahead of children’s safety.

Today, CFC’s Greg Burt is headed to the Capitol to testify against AB 2164, a bill that is designed to protect two things California seems to love: abortion and transgender ideology.

As California lawmakers consider this legislation, serious questions remain about child safety, parental rights, and accountability. California should not become a sanctuary for policies that put vulnerable children and mothers at risk.

Please join us in praying for Greg as he speaks before the Senate Public Safety Committee and for wisdom among our state leaders. 🙏

🚨 AB 1973 puts women’s lives on the line.

This bill would let non-physicians: nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, and physician assistants perform second and third trimester abortions in California. Risky procedures placed in the least experienced hands.

The facts are sobering. Every week past eight weeks, the risk of a mother dying in abortion jumps nearly 40 percent. An OB nurse and a former abortionist both testified that this bill is a recipe for injury and death.

Proponents claim it closes gaps in women’s healthcare. It does the opposite.

We must stand for life. We must stand for women. We must stand against AB 1973.

It now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee and if passed will head to the CA Senate Floor, where every state senator will vote. Find your senator and urge them to vote NO.
