Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Michelle Obama reflected on Barack Obama’s presidency and praised what she described as his lasting legacy of leadership and service.

She pointed to accomplishments including the economic recovery following the Great Recession, expansion of healthcare coverage, the auto industry bailout, the operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the end of a major U.S. war, strengthened banking regulations, the response to the Ebola outbreak, support for marriage equality, and Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.

Michelle Obama also praised her husband for helping guide the country through difficult times with what she called “grace, class, and cool,” saying his leadership provided comfort and stability for millions of Americans.
