Heat and Medications - NYC Health 06/17/2026

If you take an SSRI (an antidepressant like Prozac, Lexapro or Prozac), or another mental health medication, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about how to stay safe during hot weather:

Public high school students who identified their sexual orientation as le***an, gay, bisexual, or some other way were more likely to report feeling persistent sadness or hopelessness compared with heterosexual students. This may be linked to the discrimination, bullying, or social rejection that LGBTQ+ students can face.

It’s essential to provide access to mental health resources in order to create supportive environments where all students feel accepted. Join us at jewishboard.org/signup for updates on how we're creating supportive environments for LGBTQ+ students.

We are thrilled to announce the success of last night’s Spring Benefit at beautiful Gotham Hall, where we honored our Trustee, Steven L. Fasman, with The Saul Z. Cohen Leadership Award, and Ropes & Gray with The Walter Mendelsohn Justice and Advocacy Award.

Through this event, we raised over $1.5 million towards providing mental health services for New Yorkers. It’s an amazing testament to Steven, Ropes & Gray, and their family, friends, and supporters. We can’t thank you enough for your time and generosity!
