Celebrating an unforgettable season 🏆✨
On Tuesday evening, some of our high school student-athletes attended the Annual Francis Lewis Sports Banquet at Leonard’s Palazzo, celebrating the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of the 2025–2026 athletic season alongside teammates and fellow athletes.
We are so proud of all of our student-athletes for their commitment, teamwork, and school spirit this year. Congratulations on an amazing season!
Students at WJPS participated in their 3rd Annual Walk-a-Thon in support of the Joanna Sophia Foundation. We walked together to Bowne Park, where students enjoyed the beautiful day while supporting a meaningful cause and giving back to the community. 💙
The Joanna Sophia Foundation was created in memory of Joanna Sophia Ioannou to raise awareness about epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). The foundation supports epilepsy research, helps families caring for children with epilepsy, and continues to inspire others through Joanna’s joyful spirit and legacy.
⚡️When a book club meets the author… magic happens! Our Lambda Literary Author Visit was an unforgettable experience! ✨
Middle School Book Club students had the incredible opportunity to meet author Mark Oshiro, who co-wrote The Court of the Dead in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians universe alongside Rick Riordan.
Students dove into the writing process, asked thoughtful questions, and even participated in a book signing. One standout moment? Our student Ling Er asked a question so intriguing that Mark texted Rick Riordan on the spot to get the answer! 🤯
The creativity didn’t stop there — students also designed a board game inspired by the book and got to play it with the author to close out the event. Mark even said our school will get credit if the students’ character idea makes it into a future book! 📚🎲
Moments like this remind us how powerful storytelling and student curiosity can be.

History came to life for WJPS students during their visit to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Through powerful exhibits and personal stories, students reflected on the events of September 11, honored the lives lost, and gained a deeper understanding of resilience, unity, and remembrance.

Step inside the ballpark with our 6th graders! ⚾️
WJPS students got an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience at Citi Field — home of the New York Mets. They ran the old Shea bases in the parking lot, toured the press box, dugout, and field, and even caught a glimpse of the team practicing. To top it all off, everyone went home with Mets shirts and ticket vouchers!
Not a bad way to spend a Friday. ⚾️🐺

Our Model UN delegates did an incredible job at the Global Classrooms Initiative Model UN Conference at the United Nations!
Students spent Friday through Sunday representing their countries, collaborating in committees, and presenting their positions on global issues. They worked alongside students from around the world to draft resolutions and create meaningful memories along the way.
We’re proud to share that several of our students’ blocs proposed winning resolutions! 🌍👏
