We are a non-profit organisation supporting Lao Friends Hospital for Children - Laos' only 100% FREE pediatric hospital. In 2013, AHC became independent.

We ensure all children receive quality healthcare regardless of ability to pay while building sustainable healthcare in Laos. In 1992, acclaimed photographer Kenro Izu traveled to Siem Reap, Cambodia, to capture images of the Angkor Wat temple complex. While there, he noticed that many children in the area seemed ill and malnourished. He visited a nearby hospital and to his horror witnessed the de

The Thalassemia Clinic at Lao Friends Hospital for Children is a very special place. 💚

The children become long-term patients who get to know the staff well. Over time, the clinic becomes a familiar and safe space.

While waiting for blood, children spend time with a Child Life Therapist doing arts and crafts and play. Beside them, moms and dads sit patiently, comforting them and waiting with them. Some families even have more than one child affected by this genetic blood disorder.

LFHC’s Thalassemia Clinic has more than 700 registered patients, with around 50 children attending each week.

Many travel for hours from faraway provinces. Some arrive the day before, and some stay several nights while waiting for blood to become available.
For children with thalassemia, regular blood transfusions are life-sustaining, but blood shortages remain a real challenge in Laos.

When a child is critically ill, every second counts.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lao Friends Hospital for Children is staffed by highly skilled doctors and nurses who provide expert critical care while ensuring that care is provided with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, families never receive a hospital bill.

In Laos, any donation goes remarkably far. A donation of just $𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐔𝐒𝐃 can help provide one week of life-saving ICU care.
For many families, this hospital is their only hope.

This is what your support makes possible.
The impact still continues today. Thank you!

One step closer to becoming LFHC's first in-house surgeon.🌟
We caught up with Dr. Vee to hear about his surgical training journey as he enters his third and final year of residency.

Earlier this year, he returned to LFHC for an intensive three-month placement, working alongside Dr. Marshall Stone, a U.S. pediatric surgeon and Chief and Surgical Director, gaining valuable hands-on experience caring for children.

When he completes his training in 2027, Dr. Vee will make history as the first in-house general surgeon at LFHC. He is the first of three surgeons currently in training, helping build a sustainable, locally led surgical team for northern Laos.

A heartfelt thanks to the continuous support and generosity of the Transparent Fish Fund and the 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
Their support means every child in LFHC's care receives free medicines, and our pharmacists, who are essential to the safe dispensing of medication, are funded and in place to serve them.

No family should ever watch their child suffer because they cannot afford treatment. That is our promise. None of this will be possible without this collaboration.
We are deeply grateful. 🙏

Thirty years could not have been achieved by one person or one organization. It was possible only through the extraordinary kindness and generosity of an entire community of people who believed, and continue to believe, that children's lives are worth fighting for. We could not have done it without you.

To everyone who joined us on May 12 for our 30th Anniversary New York Gala, we thank you for being part of a very special evening. To our friends who supported us from afar, we're grateful for your generosity.

Photos and a full event recap coming very soon. Stay tuned! 📸
