The Fund is aware of the recently enacted New York State Budget. This includes legislation regarding the eligibility of prior service credit for employment for tier 3 members as school safety officer, traffic enforcement agent, corrections officer, and/or NYPD cadet time.
We are currently reviewing the legislation and will provide additional information once the legal and policy review process is completed.
At this time, we cannot answer individual eligibility or retirement questions related to this legislation.
Please continue to monitor the Fund website at nyc.gov/nycppf for updates.

Recent Legislative Changes
Several days ago, the Governor signed several pension enhancements into law. Tier 3 members will now be eligible for a Normal Service Retirement after completing 20 years of service, reducing the requirement from the previous 22 years.
In addition, effective 5/9/25, members in the rank of Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant will now receive pension enhancements at 25, 30, and 35 years of service provided they have at least three years in rank. Only members retiring on or after 5/9/25 are impacted by this change. This applies to both Tier 2 and Tier 3 members.
