A drug test isn’t a parenting test. Since last year, New Mexico’s unconstitutional directive has been separating mothers from newborns. We filed a brief before the New Mexico Supreme Court in support of the ACLU of New Mexico's legal case to challenge this harmful measure. Public health agrees that the best thing for moms and newborns is being close together. Pregnant people who use drugs need support, not separation.
