Don’t guess…Vote yes! 🗳️
At 82, Virginia state senator L. Louise Lucas has become a towering figure in Virginia politics, rising from a childhood in the segregated Jim Crow South to break barriers and shape the state’s future. Known for her strong advocacy for the marginalized and for advancing progressive causes, she’s spent years navigating the political landscape and rising through the ranks of Virginia’s General Assembly.
Now, Lucas is at the forefront of a significant political battle—pushing for what could be one of the most extreme political gerrymanders of the 2026 election cycle. Alongside other Virginia Democrats, she’s championing a new redistricting map that, if passed by voters in an April 21 referendum, could give her party control of 10 out of 11 U.S. House seats in Virginia, based on the proposed lines.
While this plan is being hailed as a bold move to counteract Republican advantages in other states, it’s also sparking controversy. Critics argue that it’s a partisan gerrymander, designed to maintain Democratic dominance at the federal level. As voters head to the polls in April, this referendum is poised to have a lasting impact not only on Virginia’s political landscape but also on the national power balance heading into the 2026 elections.
Lucas’s influence in this debate underscores her decades-long commitment to shaping Virginia’s political future and her role as one of the most powerful voices in the state. Her leadership continues to inspire both admiration and debate, as the fight for fair representation and electoral fairness unfolds.

✅ Minimum wage is going up.
✅ Working families are getting relief.
✅ Virginia is moving forward.
Today, SB1 is law after Governor Spanberger’s signature. That means higher wages and more money in the pockets of hardworking Virginians. This will Incrementally increase the state minimum wage to $15 per hour by January 1, 2028. I’ve always believed that if you work hard, you ought to be paid fairly. I’m proud to have been part of getting it done.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor a giant whose words and witness still call us to courage, conscience, and action.
Dr. King reminded us, “The time is always right to do what is right.”
As we reflect on his life and legacy, may we recommit ourselves to justice, equity, and building a Virginia, and a nation, where every voice matters and every person has the opportunity to thrive.
