Yesterday, I had the pleasure of enjoying a few rounds of Lotería with the wonderful senior community at St. Matthew’s Church in District 8.
We shared great conversations, lots of laughs, and even gave away some plants 🪴 as prizes!
Supporting and staying connected with our District 8 seniors remains one of my strongest commitments, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them and my team today.

Congratulations to Juspreet Kaur on her creative and inspiring idea to help promote reading through Victor Wembanyama’s love of books — an initiative recently highlighted in The New York Times.
As Chair of the Board of Trustees and District 8’s appointee, Juspreet’s leadership reflects the important role appointees play in helping move our city forward. Their service, innovation, and dedication help bring new ideas to the table, strengthen community engagement, and support the meaningful work our city needs.
Thank you, Juspreet, for your service to San Antonio and for continuing to champion our public libraries.

We recently treated some of the amazing senior volunteers from the Bob Ross Senior Center, located right here in District 8, to a special day at the San Antonio Botanical Garden.
Our seniors enjoyed exploring the gardens, seeing incredible plants, and experiencing the Garden’s immersive Otherwild exhibition filled with movement, color, and creativity. It was a wonderful way to celebrate and thank the volunteers who give so much of their time to our senior center.
A big thank you to the Botanical Garden team for hosting us and helping make the day so special. Spending time with our seniors is always one of the best parts of the job.

Today I attended the ribbon cutting of The Center for Health Care Services’ new Medical Center Outpatient Clinic here in District 8.
This new clinic reflects not only an investment in health and wellness, but also a commitment to treating every person with dignity, compassion, and support.
Congratulations on this exciting milestone, and thank you for allowing me to be part of this special occasion.

It was an honor to join Councilwoman Kaur and my City Council colleagues in recognizing National Bike Month and highlighting the importance of transportation in all its forms.
Thank you to Activate SA, Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, SATX Social Ride, and Ghisallo Cycling Initiative for continuing to advocate for safer streets, stronger mobility options, and a more connected community for cyclists across San Antonio.
From biking and walking to public transit and roadways, investing in transportation infrastructure helps improve accessibility, public health, and quality of life for residents throughout our city.
