On Juneteenth, we commemorate the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally received word of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

This day is not just a reminder of our past, but a call to continue building a more just, inclusive, and equitable future for all.

On June 14, 1775 — more than a year before the Declaration of Independence — the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Army to defend a nation not yet born. That commitment to service has never wavered.
