Last week, the Mayor and city officials announced that Houston is now a No Trafficking Zone, a powerful step forward in uniting the city to protect communities, support survivors, and stand against human trafficking.
This commitment means stronger awareness, survivor-informed training, visible signage, prevention efforts, technology, convictions, and coordinated partnerships with law enforcement and community leaders working together to disrupt trafficking.
NRG Park (formerly Reliant Stadium) has helped lead this effort, becoming the first major sports and entertainment venues to implement the NTZ Game Over Initiative in partnership with No Trafficking Zone, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Houston HIDTA in 2020.
Across Texas, No Trafficking Zone signage by reinforces a clear message: human trafficking will not be tolerated, and offenders face serious consequences, including 25–99 years in prison.
Thank you to Mayor John Whitmire, City Council Member Twila Carter, NTZ, Clear Channel Outdoor, HPD, HCSO, Houston HIDTA, Harris County Sports Authority, Houston Airports Director, Survivor Leaders, and all the organizations standing together in this mission.
Special thank you to for helping bring awareness to this work.
