π©Ίπ TCTA HOSA Makes History at the International Leadership Conference!ππ©Ί
This week, TCTA HOSA proudly represented our school on the international stage in Indianapolis, Indiana, where four outstanding students and their dedicated advisors competed alongside thousands of HOSA members from around the globe at the International Leadership Conference (ILC).
Representing TCTA were:
β Penelope Yates (11th Grade, Northridge High School)
β Magen Hendrix (11th Grade, Bryant High School)
β Indya Kirkland (12th Grade, Bryant High School)
β Teralyn Temms-Hall (11th Grade, Northridge High School)
Earlier this year, Penelope βPennyβ Yates earned 3rd Place in the Alabama State HOSA Medical Spelling Competition, securing her spot at the International Leadership Conference.
This week, Penny achieved an incredible 14th Place finish in the Global Medical Spelling Competitive Event. An outstanding accomplishment among the world's top competitors!
We are also proud to recognize Magen Hendrix, who received the prestigious Barbara James Service Award for completing more than 150 community service hours in the health science field.
Additionally, Teralyn Temms-Hall and Indya Kirkland represented TCTA in the Healthcare Issues Exam, demonstrating their knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to the future of healthcare.

Students in the Therapeutics class at Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy successfully completed Stop the Bleed training presented by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Through this hands-on experience, students learned critical emergency response techniques that can help save lives in real-world situations.

π TCTA was honored to welcome a delegation from Ghana through the Sister Cities International partnership initiative on May 13, 2026!
Guests toured several of TCTAβs premier programs and were welcomed by our TCTA Ambassadors and Principal Ms. Branch.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Daria also joined TCS principals and Central Office staff in welcoming and sharing a meal with the delegation.
In celebration of the 15-year partnership anniversary, Tuscaloosa City Schools announced a commemorative shipment of books and educational resources to Sunyani-Techiman for the 2026β2027 school year under the slogan, βTwo Communities, One Vision.β ππ

On May 7, 2026, TCTA proudly celebrated our annual Future Teachers College Signing Day as seniors from across Tuscaloosa City Schools officially signed to continue their education journeys and pursue careers in teaching and education! ππ
From elementary education to physical education, art education, and secondary math, these future educators are preparing to make a lasting impact in classrooms everywhere. We are especially proud of students receiving prestigious scholarships including the Teach in Bama Scholarship and the Teacher Cadet Scholarship! π
Students were also recognized for earning their Customer Service Credential through Shelton State Community College, showcasing their professionalism and dedication to serving others.
A special thank you to our education partners The University of Alabama and University of West Alabama for supporting our future educators, and to Dr. Joan King and the TCTA Culinary Arts students for preparing refreshments for this special event.
