Favorite landscape: The riverside for me! Every since leaving home, I've lived and worked within a mile or two of a river (often much closer) and it's peaceful like nothing else I've known.

To serve my neighbors, near and far. We're all one big community on this planet and reporting is one small way I can help it grow and thrive.

I'm learning to play the mountain dulcimer- slowly.

There is so much care present on this team, around the clock. Beyond the numerous slack channels and hundreds of alerts are humans who are doing their very best to keep you informed.

In 2025, the National Weather Service issued more flash flood warnings than ever before.

Now, alongside our wildfire reporting, Watch Duty delivers fast, accurate, easy-to-follow reports about catastrophic flooding events to help you stay safe and informed.

Just like wildfires, flood warning systems are too slow and fragmented to keep people informed and safe.

Watch Duty is responding by expanding to cover major floods. Open the Watch Duty app and toggle on in 'layers' to see real-time flood data and mapping, alongside our existing wildfire coverage.

I believe in the importance of the mission, and believe in the impact we have on the community.

What skills help you report for Watch Duty?
My experience and background working and volunteering for my local fire department give my invaluable insight into how fire works. I like to think I stay calm under pressure and multitask well, both of which are critical to doing this job!

Favorite landscape?
I’ve lived and worked in and around the forest my entire life. I just love it!
