Happy 251st Birthday to the U.S. Army! Thank you to all the men and women from Southwest Michigan who have served in the Army and defended our freedom!

It was great to join students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan for a hands-on budget exercise last weekend at the Air Zoo!

Using a Bipartisan Policy Center simulation, students worked through many of the same difficult choices policymakers face when balancing spending priorities and addressing the national debt.

It was encouraging to see so many young people engaged in thoughtful discussions about public policy and civic responsibility.

It was great to join veterans from across the region for the first day of the Women’s veteran conference in Kalamazoo! We discussed legislation I have supported to improve care for our veterans as well as legislation I have introduced to enhance access to quality mental health resources for our vets!

Yesterday, during a stop at the Gerald R. Ford Museum with my colleague Congressman Scott Peters (D-CA), we got to see the coffee table gifted to President Eisenhower from Queen Elizabeth II featuring a detailed engraving of the D-Day Invasion.

This historic piece is on loan from the Eisenhower Library and Museum to the Ford Museum for their special exhibit “Waltzing with the Queen: President Ford and the Anglo-American Special Relationship”

May jobs report: US labor market smashes expectations with payroll growth of 172,000 The US economy added 172,000 jobs in May, blowing past expectations, according to the government's closely watched jobs report. The unemployment rate remained flat at 4.3%.

American citizenship is one of our nation's greatest privileges. If a naturalized citizen is convicted of committing, supporting, or financing acts of terror, they should lose their citizenship and swiftly be deported from the United States.
