The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss the Department of the Treasury’s priorities and how we can build an economy that uplifts all Americans.
During the hearing, we examined policies impacting American families and small businesses. As folks across the country continue to face economic uncertainty and rising costs, I remain focused on advancing policies that support job creation, encourage economic opportunity, and keep America financially strong for future generations.
Lowering the cost of living and making life more affordable is my top priority in Congress!

I was glad to participate in a discussion hosted by the Charlotte Business Alliance, alongside other leaders from across the region, to discuss the issues shaping North Carolina’s economy and future growth.
We focused on several important priorities, including tax and fiscal policy, trade and supply chain stability, healthcare workforce challenges, transportation and infrastructure, and energy modernization. These issues are critical to supporting economic growth, creating jobs, and ensuring North Carolina remains one of the best states in the nation to live, work, and do business.
I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from members of the business community and discuss policies that strengthen our workforce, encourage investment and innovation, and support long-term economic success across our state.

I’m excited to share that I am hosting my 5th Veterans History Project at Coastal Carolina Community College on June 22nd. This event celebrates and honors our troops by inviting them to share their stories and have them archived in the Library of Congress.
If you are a veteran or know someone who is, I encourage you to participate in this wonderful event. It is a fantastic way to honor those in our community who selflessly sacrificed so much for our freedom and security.

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Sonablate to discuss innovative medical technology for treating prostate cancer in a clinical setting, rather than requiring hospital-based care.
As a physician, I understand the importance of expanding access to high-quality, patient centered treatment options while also supporting innovation that can improve outcomes and reduce burdens on patients and providers alike.
Conversations like these are important as we continue working to strengthen healthcare access and advance medical innovation for communities across Eastern North Carolina and the country.

Thank you to Greenville Carpet Supply for welcoming me and taking the time to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing small businesses in Eastern North Carolina. From rising costs and workforce needs to maintaining a strong local economy, it is important that business owners have a seat at the table in Washington.
Small businesses like Greenville Carpet Supply are helping drive growth across our region and support hardworking families every day. They are critical for economic growth, job creation, and keeping our communities strong.
As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I will continue fighting for policies that allow our small businesses to compete, expand, and thrive for years to come.

Great job! What a cool find and opportunity to contribute to the History Museum of Carteret County!
About two weeks ago, two fifth grade students, Evan J. (L) and Will B. (R) discovered an object on our front playground at MCES. Upon investigation and through conformation from the History Museum of Carteret County, the boys discovered a Civil War Era bullet. We plan to display this at MCES as Camp Glenn is part of our history. What an awesome find boys!

It was fantastic to participate in a Carteret County legislative luncheon and speak with community leaders about how we can best serve Eastern North Carolina.
Opportunities to connect with those working every day in our communities are always valuable. In Congress, I am committed to ensuring our coastal communities thrive, fighting for commonsense policies that protect our way of life and for federal funding to help our region thrive.
I am grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from those on the ground helping move our communities forward and finding ways to collaborate.

It was great to visit the new Grady-White Boats Radiation Oncology Cancer Center and meet with healthcare professionals dedicated to serving patients and families across Eastern North Carolina.
As a physician, I understand the important role hospitals and healthcare providers play in keeping communities healthy and ensuring patients have access to quality care. I am grateful for the work they do every day to provide quality care and strengthen our communities.
In Congress, I am fighting to ensure our rural hospitals have the resources they need to continue serving those in need. Thank you for the opportunity to visit and for your continued commitment to our coastal communities.
