We were delighted to host our annual King’s Birthday Party to celebrate the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles III last night. Drawing on Great British traditions, our guests enjoyed His Majesty’s favourite fruitcake, waved on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, and watched fireworks accompanied by music composed especially for a Royal Fireworks Display nearly three centuries ago.

Following the model of the Royal Garden Parties that bring together people from all aspects of life in the UK, we were proud to welcome our valued friends and partners from across Kosovo to celebrate as well the special and enduring 🇬🇧🇽🇰 friendship.

As the World Cup kicks off it was a pleasure to join German Ambassador Rainer Rudolph for an interview with Kosovapress this afternoon. We spoke about our love of football, our countries’ chances in the World Cup and our hopes for Kosovo’s rapid regaining of momentum after the recent elections. I joined the Head of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, and the Acting Head of the EU in Kosovo, Eva Palatova, on a visit to the vote counting centre in Pristina. I was impressed with the commitment of the counting teams and observers and interested in the new transparency measures which have been introduced. Once the election results are certified, it will be time for the political parties to do their part and establish the institutions.

It was great to be at Shell Kosovo for the launch of the new Shell V-Power. I saw firsthand how a global UK brand continues to invest for the long term and collaborate closely with local partners. British businesses work best when they listen and invest locally. Shell Kosovo is a fantastic example of how long-term partnerships can build trust and deliver real results.

I started the day by visiting the Central Election Commission in Pristina to meet CEC Chair Kreshnik Radoniqi. I thanked him and his team for the excellent job they did in the previous election cycle. I met the IT team, duty Prosecutor and Kosovo Police Coordinator. I thanked them for their teams’ efforts to make today’s elections go smoothly. There are so many people working tirelessly behind the scenes today to ensure a calm and efficient democratic process. Now it’s up to the people of Kosovo to head out and vote!

Today and every day, we stand alongside Kosovo’s LGBTQ+ community and allies, to celebrate equality, dignity, and to affirm that fundamental rights are for all. Everyone should be able to live freely and without fear.
