Highlights from Eurosatory 2026 in France.

Mr. Ali Al Shehhi, NSSTC Director joined leading space industry experts in the panel discussion, “The Gulf’s Rise as a Strategic Space Power,” exploring the growing role of space technologies in driving innovation, strengthening resilience, and fostering international collaboration.

The discussion highlighted the Gulf region’s increasing investment in space capabilities, the importance of strategic partnerships, and the expanding impact of space technologies across security, connectivity, Earth observation, and sustainable development.

As nations increasingly recognize the strategic value of space technologies, the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at United Arab Emirates University is pleased to announce the participation of Mr. Ali Al Shehhi, Director of NSSTC, in a distinguished panel discussion at Eurosatory 2026.

The session, titled “The Gulf’s Rise as a Strategic Space Power”, will explore how space capabilities are driving innovation, strengthening resilience, and supporting national priorities across the region. Discussions will highlight emerging opportunities for international cooperation, investment, and the advancement of space-based solutions that serve both civil and strategic sectors.

A delegation from the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at United Arab Emirates University visited the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) in the People’s Republic of China.

During the visit, both sides exchanged expertise and explored opportunities for collaboration in the fields of Earth observation, big data, and sustainable development applications. Discussions also covered potential cooperation in research initiatives, scientific challenges, and capacity-building activities that support innovation and contribute to addressing global sustainability challenges.

The visit reflects a shared commitment to advancing research excellence and strengthening international partnerships that support sustainable development and drive scientific progress.

في إطار جهوده المستمرة لتعزيز التعاون الدولي، عقد وفد المركز الوطني لعلوم وتكنولوجيا الفضاء اجتماعاً مثمراً مع شركة ستار فيجن في جمهورية الصين الشعبية. وشكّل اللقاء فرصة لتبادل الرؤى ومناقشة مجالات الاهتمام المشترك واستكشاف آفاق التعاون المستقبلي، بما يعكس التزام الجانبين بدعم الابتكار وتبادل المعرفة والمساهمة في تطوير علوم وتكنولوجيا.

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation, the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) delegation held a productive meeting with Star Vision in the People’s Republic of China. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange insights, discuss areas of mutual interest, and explore potential avenues for future collaboration, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of space science and technology.

The National Space Science and Technology Center team participated in the 1st Satellite Networks Coordination Meeting between the Administrations of the Republic of Korea and the United Arab Emirates, hosted by the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) and the Korea Communications Agency (KCA).

The meeting provided an important platform to discuss satellite network coordination, strengthen technical cooperation, and support ongoing collaboration in space communications and spectrum management.

شهدت الزيارة مناقشات مثمرة حول فرص التعاون في مجال تطوير الأقمار الصناعية فائقة الأطياف، وتقنيات الحمولات الفضائية المتقدمة، ومعالجة وتحليل البيانات الفضائية، بما يسهم في تعزيز الاستفادة من بيانات الاستشعار عن بُعد لدعم التطبيقات البيئية والزراعية ومراقبة الموارد الطبيعية.

كما تبادل الجانبان الخبرات والرؤى حول أحدث التطورات في تقنيات رصد الأرض، واستكشاف فرص التعاون البحثي والتقني في مجالات تطوير الأنظمة الفضائية، ومعالجة البيانات، وتوظيف تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي في استخراج المعلومات وتحويل البيانات الفضائية إلى حلول عملية تدعم التنمية المستدامة.

وتأتي هذه الزيارة في إطار جهود المركز لتعزيز الشراكات الدولية وتبادل المعرفة والخبرات، بما يدعم تطوير تقنيات فضائية متقدمة ويسهم في بناء منظومة فضائية أكثر ابتكاراً واستدامة.

The NSSTC delegation visited the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAMCAS), where they were welcomed by Prof. Zhang Yonghe, Deputy Director of IAMCAS.

The visit focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in hyperspectral satellite development, advanced payload technologies, and data processing applications. Discussions highlighted the importance of hyperspectral data in enabling innovative solutions for environmental monitoring, natural resource management, climate studies, and sustainable development.

Both sides exchanged insights on satellite technologies, mission development, and Earth observation capabilities, while exploring potential avenues for future cooperation in hyperspectral imaging, data analytics, and space research initiatives.

This visit reflects NSSTC’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and advancing cutting-edge space technologies that support scientific excellence and innovation.

قام وفد من المركز الوطني لعلوم وتكنولوجيا الفضاء بجامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، برئاسة السيد علي الشحي، مدير المركز، بزيارة شركة جيانغسو جيتري لتقنيات الاستشعار الذكية المحدودة في جمهورية الصين الشعبية.

وكان في استقبال الوفد البروفيسور ليو ييننيان، مؤسس الشركة، حيث بحث الجانبان آفاق التعاون المستقبلي وفرص الشراكة في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة، وتطبيقات الفضاء، والاستشعار الذكي، وتحليل البيانات، إلى جانب عدد من المجالات ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

وتأتي هذه الزيارة في إطار جهود المركز الوطني لعلوم وتكنولوجيا الفضاء بجامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة لتعزيز التعاون الدولي وتبادل المعرفة والخبرات، واستكشاف فرص جديدة للتعاون البحثي والتقني بما يدعم الابتكار ويسهم في تطوير حلول متقدمة تخدم القطاعات المستقبلية المختلفة.

A delegation from the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at United Arab Emirates University, led by Mr. Ali AlShehhi, Director of NSSTC, visited Jiangsu JITRI Intelligent Sensing Technology Co., Ltd. in the People’s Republic of China.

The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Liu Yinnian, Founder and Chief Scientist of the company, where both parties explored opportunities for future collaboration and strategic partnerships across a range of advanced technology and research fields, including space applications, intelligent sensing technologies, and data-driven innovation.

The visit reflects the commitment of the National Space Science and Technology Center at United Arab Emirates University to strengthening international collaboration, fostering knowledge exchange, and exploring new opportunities for research and technological cooperation that support innovation and future-focused development.
