EAD has referred a farm owner in Abu Dhabi to judicial authorities. Violations included groundwater depletion and sales, illegal liquid waste disposal, and interfering with inspection teams.

Groundwater is a vital strategic asset. We urge all farm owners and community members to adhere to regulations protecting our natural resources for future generations.

On World Environment Day 2026, HE Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, affirms that this day is an opportunity to renew our commitment to protecting natural resources. This commitment works towards strengthening ecosystem resilience in the face of climate change, in line with the UAE's vision for sustainable development.

These efforts reflect EAD’s commitment to working with partners across all sectors to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s leadership in environmental and climate action, and to support the sustainability of natural resources and quality of life.

في اليوم العالمي للبيئة، يؤكد سمو الشيخ حمدان بن زايد آل نهيان، ممثل الحاكم في منطقة الظفرة، رئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة البيئة - أبوظبي، أن رؤية صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد تواصل ترسيخ نموذج يجعل الاستدامة والعمل المناخي في صميم مسيرة أبوظبي، مستلهمة نهج المغفور له بإذن الله الشيخ زايد زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان.

ويدعو سموه إلى تسريع الحلول المبتكرة، وتعزيز البحث، وحماية التنوع البيولوجي لضمان مستقبل أكثر ازدهارًا.



On World Environment Day, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of EAD’s Board of Directors, affirms that the vision of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed continues to advance a forward-looking development model that places sustainability and climate action at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s progress, building on the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed.

His Highness calls for accelerating innovative solutions, strengthening scientific research, and protecting biodiversity and terrestrial and marine ecosystems to ensure a greener future for generations to come.

بتوجيهات حمدان بن زايد، وقَّعت هيئة البيئة – أبوظبي اتفاقية شراكة تنظيمية مع الاتحاد الدولي لحفظ الطبيعة لدعم العمل الدولي في الحفاظ على التنوع البيولوجي، لتصبح أول جهة في غرب آسيا على هذا المستوى من التعاون المؤسسي.

وتستند إلى "نداء أبوظبي للعمل" وتدفع استثمارات مستدامة لتحقيق نتائج ملموسة.



Under the directives of Hamdan bin Zayed, EAD has signed a Framework Partnership Agreement with the International Union for Conservation of Nature to support global action in biodiversity conservation, becoming the first entity in West Asia at this level of institutional partnership.

It builds on the Abu Dhabi Call to Action and will drive sustained investment in programmes for measurable outcomes.
